Tyler Guidos – Mansfield University (Baseball)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Mansfield, Wells College, King’s, Slippery Rock

Reasons for choosing  Mansfield:  “I like the view with the mountains, but the main thing was they played in the PSAC, which is a really good D-2 conference. Some of my friends are going to IUP and some of the other schools, so I’ll get to play against them.”

What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “Ever since 12U when I went up to Cooperstown and I saw the competition – I enjoyed playing, and I wanted to continue it and play in college.”

Coach Jon Pallone said:  “Tyler has always had a goal to play college baseball. His greatest strength on the field is his defense behind the plate. He was one of the top catchers in a very competitive league last year. I’ve described Tyler as a ‘baseball head’ who understands the game very well. In the Suburban One Continental Conference, he had the top batting average among all catchers and was second on our team in average. During the season last year, we had a need for pitching, so he stepped up and delivered quality innings in league play. Tyler fulfilled that role when he wasn’t catching. His biggest strength on the mound was his aggressive mentality on the hill and willingness to make teams beat him.
“This year I also have the privilege of having Tyler in the classroom, and he’s an outstanding student-athlete. I’m impressed with his abilities in the classroom. He’s always willing to work hard and focuses on his success. Whether it’s in the classroom or on the field, Tyler has the ability to always have fun while maintaining his focus, making him a joy to be around. I’m happy to see Tyler commit to Mansfield, and I’m looking forward to watching him achieve great things on and off the field.”
