Reasons for choosing Millersville: “I really, really liked the team. I liked the teams everywhere I went, but I took an overnight visit, and I really enjoyed the team atmosphere. I really feel like I connected at the school with the coaches and with the team. It was just everything I was looking for.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “Everyone in my family runs, and I absolutely love track. I don’t just do it because of my family. I really love the sport. My freshman and sophomore year I was just kind of doing it because everyone in my family did it, but I really began to love it my junior year. Now I couldn’t imagine not doing it in college.”
Coach Jason Anderson says: “In our sport, the stop watch doesn’t lie. You just have to put in the work, and that’s what Ashlyn does. Literally every day she works hard. This is her third season running cross country and indoor track. Her work ethic is unparalleled in my opinion. Summer lifting – she’s the first person there. She would come in the morning at six or seven and go to her summer job afterwards at the pool, so her work ethic is just phenomenal. Athletically, she went to districts for the 400. Academically, she’s taken a bunch of AP classes. We’re just proud of her work and proud of her perseverance through all her four years here. She’s a senior captain in the outdoor season. She’s been a joy to coach.”
