Drue Chauhan – Rowan University (Track & Field)
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Final list of colleges: Rowan, Pitt, Widener, Penn State, Temple
Reasons for choosing Rowan: “They have a great engineering program, a very nice campus and a great track team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “Freshman year is when I realized that I have the possibility of throwing in college. As I progressed, I believed that I’d even make it onto better college teams. The recruiting process started when I first reached out to the coach at Rowan, who gave me a goal to reach to get recruited for his team. Finally, when I reached that goal, I received another call and learned I’d be playing on the team.”
Track & field coach Rudy Levinski: “I’ve had the pleasure of coaching Drue as his primary event coach since he was a freshman. Since then, Drue has been a Suburban One League runner-up, Suburban One League champion and a District 1 qualifier. As a junior, Drue was the eighth highest point earner on the team, and this season was the fourth highest. He holds a personal best in the javelin throw – 171 feet, 6 inches, the third farthest mark in Quakertown history.
“Despite Drue’s athletic feats, his most impressive traits are his leadership and selflessness. Over the past three years, Drue has competed in 11 different events, many of which he had limited training in. He did this knowing he had an opportunity to score points and contribute to the team effort. He has also been the unquestioned leader of our javelin crew, a group that has not been beaten in a dual meet in two years and did not give up a single point last season. Their success is due largely to Drue taking the time to mentor and guide the younger athletes.
“Both of these young men are everything a track coach hopes for in an athlete. I have no doubt they will continue to succeed and lead for their respective teams at the next level.”

Kieran Hennessy – Susquehanna University (Track & Field and Football)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Susquehanna, King’s, Alvernia, Moravian
Reasons for choosing Susquehanna: “When I went on my visit, I loved the campus, and the exploratory program gave me confidence that I would be able to find the right major to fit my passions. On the athletic side, Susquehanna is dominant in both football and track, so I knew that I would be part of a winning culture.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track & field and football at the collegiate level? “Eleventh grade was the first time I thought about playing a sport in college. A few football coaches had reached out to me, and that’s where the process began. Track season rolled around, and I started having some good throws and realized I was pretty good, so I started sending emails to tons of coaches, telling them who I am and that I was interested in their track program.”
Track & field coach Rudy Levinski: “Kieran first came out for track as a sophomore. His accomplishments include being a two-time Suburban One League runner-up, two-time Suburban One League champion, Meet of Champions qualifier, three-time District 1 qualifier. He holds the ninth furthest shot put throw in school history, and the third farthest discus throw in school history, just seven inches from the school record. He’s also been the second highest point earner on the team for the past two seasons.
“There are a lot of stories I could tell about Kieran, but I think the one that best encapsulates who he is was at the end of last season. He had just completed the district championships, and that day, there was heavy rain, and despite a really solid effort, he unfortunately wasn’t able to advance to states. Although the season had ended just an hour or so earlier, the moment we got back to the school, he said, ‘Coach, I’m heading to the track. I’m going to throw.’ That’s just the kind of athlete and person that Kieran is. He’s a relentless worker and a resolutely determined young man.”
Football coach George Banas: “Kieran is a man of few words. He’s been playing football for four years, and I think he might have said a total of about 10 words in the locker room that other people may hear. He is very humble, very quiet, but when he does speak, his teammates listen. He plays a position that is not well recognized. He’s an offensive and defensive lineman. Typically, all you hear about are the wide receivers, the quarterbacks, the running backs because they get all the glory. They’re in the end zone, but none of that happens without the big guys up front, and Kieran’s been just an absolute solid pillar for the last couple of years for our football team, allowing us to win a championship this year, allowing our wide receivers to set every single wide receiver record this year, to have our first ever 2,000-yard passing quarterback. All that does not happen without young men like Kieran - his work ethic and the way he just grinds it out and gets beat up time and time again. I looked at him week eight or nine, and I don’t think there was an appendage on his body that was not wrapped or in some sort of sling, and all I would do is say – ‘You good?’ He’s like – ‘Yep,’ and that was it. He was off and running. It’s that type of work ethic that I commend. He’s going to be a dual sport athlete at the next level, which is extremely difficult to do. I have no doubt with his work ethic and his mentality that he is going to be very successful at Susquehanna.”
