Nick Drosnock – Moravian College (Basketball)

Major:  Physics/Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Moravian, Lehigh, Lafayette, Bentley, Bridgewater

Reasons for choosing Moravian:  “I went to Moravian, and it was a great community, everyone was very friendly, and the coach is great. I used to go there all the time when I was younger for basketball tournaments, so it’s a nice homely fit for me.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level?  “At my YMCA, they put a poster up for me because I was having a tough time when I was younger – I was in between homes and having a tough personal time. I (found) a refuge at the Y, and I honestly pretty much lived there for a year. That’s where I first picked up a basketball, and that’s where I developed my love for the game.”

Coach Kevin Keeler says:  “It’s a special thing for a student-athlete to go to college and play a sport. I’ve been coaching 34 years, and one of the coaches asked me how often I’ve been (at the college signing events), and this is my second or third time, so for a basketball player to get to that point where he can go on and try out for a college team is pretty special. Nick, as a ninth grade athlete, was a little kid, but even back then, you could tell he had an itch to play down the road and be this fantastic basketball player. He had this dream to play basketball at the next level.
“The biggest thing I told Nick was – you have to get your body bigger and stronger. It’s a physical sport, and Nick has done that. This year in warm-ups, he’s up over the rim and almost dunking the ball. He’s worked on his skill level – right hand, left hand. He had six threes against Pennridge for that big win. Nick has had a great four years. I’m so happy for him. Moravian is a fantastic academic university, so I know that he’ll take care of business in the classroom. He’s a very dedicated student. I’m very proud of Nick Drosnock representing Quakertown basketball.”
