On Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, Quakertown senior Kiera Gallagher was recognized for committing to continue her field hockey career at Kutztown University.

Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “I always had my mind set on Kutztown. I love the team atmosphere along with the competition that we will face. I also admire how strong the education program is.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I first picked up a field hockey stick in middle school and immediately knew I loved the sport. I started going to camps and clinics at the start of high school while keeping my options open.”
Coach MacKenzie Moser says: “Kiera is a versatile player that no matter where she’s at – if she’s inside or outside, she’s able to make a valuable play. She has a great eye for seeing the whole field. She is strong with her dodges, quick to move and get open and fearless to take a strong shot. In two short years of coaching Kiera, I have had the honor of seeing her grow both on and off the field. Within both of my years of coaching, Kiera has been a varsity starter, receiving a selection of second team all-league last year and now first team all-league this year. She is a key on many offensive plays, earning herself MVP of offense, and she was a captain both junior and senior year. Not only has she excelled in field hockey, she is also very actively involved in her academics and clubs within this high school. Kiera, Kutztown is lucky to have a player like yourself. You are talented with a field hockey stick, you are encouraging to all your teammates, and you are as genuine as they come. Never stop setting the bar high, working hard to reach whatever goal you have set your mind to. You have a bright future ahead of you both academically and athletically. I’ll be on the sidelines cheering you on as a Golden Bear, but remember – once a Panther, always a Panther. Good luck at Kutztown.
