Quakertown's Lefkoski & Frederick to Play Collegiate Softball

On Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, Quakertown seniors Brianna Lefkoski and Halle Frederick were recognized for committing to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.  Check back for photos of the event.

“I want to thank these two for what they have done in their careers at Quakertown,” coach Dave Scott said. “It’s been a very sustained run of excellence for the program, and these two have had a huge part in that. They’re similar to each other in that they’re both sort of quiet, but they both have that killer instinct that has brought them to this point. Both of these ladies are fantastic people, fantastic players. The sky is limit for both of them. We are all very proud of them.”

Halle Frederick – University of New Haven (Softball)

Major:  Biology with Pre-Med track

Final list of colleges:  New Haven, Monmouth, Neumann

Reasons for choosing New Haven:  “New Haven just really has everything. They have a really good biology program, which is what I wanted, and the softball coaches are really nice, and all the players on the team were really welcoming.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level?  “I’ve always known I wanted to play softball in college. I started playing when I was seven, and since then, I’ve just been working towards being able to play in college.”

Coach Dave Scott says:  “I call Freddie ‘Miss Agreeable.’ If I need her to play left field, she’ll play left field. If I need her to catch, she’ll catch. If I need her to DH, she’ll DH, and it’s always, ‘Yes.’ It’s never an argument, it’s never a debate. It’s – what can I do to help the team? It’s going to be a nice career for her going to the next level.”

Brianna Lefkoski – Moravian College (Softball)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Moravian, Susquehanna, West Chester

Reasons for choosing Moravian:  “I chose Moravian because it was the best fit for me. It was the perfect size – I like smaller schools because of smaller class sizes. The coach is a really good guy, and the campus is beautiful.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level?  “I actually did not know I wanted to play in college until I joined the high school team. I used to be a righty hitter and an infielder, and I changed to the left side. It was so much more fun for me. It was a challenge, and I started to get better at it, and I wanted to keep going.”

Coach Dave Scott says:  “Before I was hired, I had heard Brianna was pretty fast. In all the years I’ve coached, she is the fastest player I’ve ever coached. Brianna is one of those double-threat players that can win a game with both her bat and on defense. She’s had games for us last season where she did that. She won a game for us with her bat, and she had a game where she made five or six defensive plays in center field that left me shaking my head.”
