Mackenzie Mahler – Penn College of Technology

Major:  Occupational Therapy Assistant

Final list of colleges:  Penn College of Technology, Kutztown, Penn State Altoona

Reasons for choosing Penn College of Technology:  “Wanted to play volleyball, not as far away, decent size campus.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it when high school volleyball was ending and realized I wanted to keep playing, so when I picked Penn, the coach came and watched me play.”

Coach Geena Close says:  “Mackenzie Mahler has always been a familiar name as I’ve known her since she was a little girl running around the gymnasium during practices. As she grew up, I had the opportunity to see Mackenzie compete in both high school and travel volleyball. Over the last two years, Mackenzie excelled as a setter, leading the team’s offense by making smart decisions on the fly each play. Mackenzie always had an edge to her playing as she was a dynamic player. She knew not every play was perfect, so she always had options to her plan of attack. As she moves on to Penn College of Technology, she will bring her diversity, knowledge and willingness to learn new skills to the game. Mackenzie, I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing what you will do next.”
