Carley Peacher – Immaculata University (Soccer)
Major: Nursing
Final list of colleges: Immaculata, East Stroudsburg, DeSales, West Chester
Reasons for choosing Immaculata: “I wasn’t too sure about it at first, but then I visited several times, and I met with the players and coaches. I think it’s going to be a good fit for me. It’s not too big, and it will be a good structure for me.”
What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level? “I have always wanted to play college soccer, but last year is when I really started thinking about it. I went to a lot of college games, and I thought it would be the right fit for me.”
Coach Mike Wolf says: “We had a great year this year, probably the best year in Quakertown since 1994. We had a lot of things that went really, really well. We had a lot of people that did a lot, and it started with our center backs and with our senior center back. Every game that we played – after the game, the coach would talk to me about our center back, Carley Peacher. Her ability to stop other teams from attacking, initiate our own attack. If we were in trouble, her tenacity to go back and win a ball to put us back in a good spot again. On the field, she was a huge, huge part of what we did this year.
“One of our team’s goals and the way we wanted to work together revolved around doing what was best for the team. Carley played center back for us, and I think if I had given her a list of positions and asked her to choose which one she wanted to play, center back would not have been high on the list, but she did it because it’s what made us great. That’s the person, the teammate and the quality of player Carley is.
“I’ve had the good fortune to coach lots and lots of players who went on to play collegiate soccer, and the components are that competitiveness and desire to be the best that you can possibly be, that willingness to be a good teammate and the ability to work hard. Our whole senior class, Carley included, worked so hard this year, and it brought everybody else’s work rate up. Things aren’t always easy and things aren’t always good. We didn’t have the best year the year before, but Carley persevered, she was a leader, and all of those qualities are what will make her a very, very good collegiate player. I love coaching because I love seeing my players every day. Carley was always a positive person, and that ripples throughout the team. I’m excited that she’s playing at Immaculata. I’d love to see her there, but I certainly will miss seeing her and watching her play at Quakertown. It’s been a pleasure to be able to coach her.”
