On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Quakertown senior Anna Skogen was recognized for committing to continue her volleyball career at Life University.
Anna Skogen – Life University (Volleyball)
Major: Exercise Science
Reasons for choosing Life University: “Life University offers my major of choice, my intended graduate program, and a women’s volleyball team – everything I was looking for from a university.
What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “I really started thinking college volleyball could be a possibility for me during my junior year of high school. I started working really hard at increasing my physical and mental game and earned Suburban One League honorable mention. I also didn’t want to stop being a teammate after high school, and I wanted to create new volleyball memories with a new group of girls who I can learn from.”
Coach Andy Snyder says: “This year Anna suffered a season-ending injury early in the season, and I think that was a defining moment for her because it showed us the character that she possesses. She was an honorable mention all-league as a junior. She’s a two-time captain – she was a captain her junior and senior year. She’s been playing volleyball for four years, and I’ve had the good fortune of coaching her the last two years. Once I became the coach, she immediately came to me and said, ‘I want to win,’ and she was here to win, and she was going to do whatever it took to win. That showed her desire and her leadership qualities.
“She suffered a season-ending injury early on this year, but she still came to practice. She came to all the games. She supported her teammates and became the ultimate teammate through the support that she showed, and we couldn’t ask for more than that. She truly exemplifies the characteristics of perseverance, determination and resilience. Best of luck on your next step at Life University.”
