ChaseMarie Ryan – Bethany College (Wrestling)
Major:
Criminal justice
Final list of colleges: Bethany College, Eastern University, Arcadia
Reasons for choosing Bethany College: “Bethany College stood out because of their wrestling program. When I visited, the team had a welcoming atmosphere, and I felt like I could fit right in. I was impressed by the coaches and the dedication of the wrestlers. Plus, the academics are strong, and I liked the campus. It felt like the perfect place to pursue my athletic and academic goals.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in wrestling at the collegiate level? “I didn’t seriously consider playing in college until the end of my junior season. That’s when I realized I wanted to continue competing at a high level. The recruiting process really started with coaches reaching out to me after seeing me compete at tournaments and state championships. I began having conversations with them about their program, what they were looking for in athletes, and how it might fit it. It was really about building relationships with the coaches and figuring out which program felt like the right fit for me.”
Coach Eric Rosencranz: “This is our second year sanctioned as a sport. It’s pretty cool that we have two seniors already getting scholarships to wrestle at the next level. Chase’s story is one of constant improvement. It goes on and off the map. She came into the room the first time just looking to get better at jiu-jitsu, and here she is signing to wrestle in college. Chase ended her high school career as a league champion, district runner-up, regional runner-up and state qualifier. She was also the first Quakertown girl wrestler to be selected for the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic. The Classic brings in the best senior wrestlers from around the country. So, it was a career first and a career first that’s just beginning with the start of this new chapter. Chase, I hope you continue to create these opportunities.”

Janiah Solano – Cedar Crest College (Wrestling)
Major:
Genetic Engineering
Final list of colleges: Cedar Crest, Bethany College, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing Cedar Crest: “They have an amazing team, beautiful campus close to home, nice community and lots of majors to choose from.”
What was the progression that led you to wrestling at the collegiate level? “I was always unsure about playing at the collegiate level until this year. I signed up for NCSA around the end of last year, and a bunch of coaches reached out, and it helped me make my decision.”
Coach Eric Rosencranz: “Janiah – what a journey to get here. I don’t think when she walked in her first day of wrestling practice, she thought she’d end up on the stage. It was not her intent to wrestle in college. I think that’s a testament to her perseverance. She came into the wrestling room with no experience but worked hard every day and now is seeing the rewards of that work. Even with her injuries, Janiah still ended up ranked fourth in the final district rankings. She got hurt right before the postseason started, so she never got that opportunity. But with that said, I know her hard work and perseverance will continue at the next level and show everyone what she’s capable of. Congrats, I look forward to watching you.”
