Reasons for choosing Andrew College: “I selected Andrew College as my college because I wanted to continue my athletic career where I can play golf all year round.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in golf at the collegiate level? “I chose to play golf at the college level because I want to continue playing golf at a competitive level and continue to grow.”
Coach Kurt Amen: “Throughout his golf career, Whyatt has been the definition of character. Whyatt O’Rourke would give
the shirt off his back to any student in this school. They all recognize it. If you get to know him, you realize that he has more empathy at his young age than most people do in the entirety of their lives. Whyatt O’Rourke has integrity, he has humility – he has lots of humility, he has grit, he has passion, he has a sense of humor. Whyatt knows how to communicate. He’s not afraid to fail because he knows the mere attempt towards success means everything.
“Whyatt O’Rourke reflects on every action and isn’t afraid to admit that there’s always room for improvement. I’m going to admit something as a coach – and this is tough. Whyatt beat me two or three times on the golf course this year, and I always made an excuse, but I know he wants to hear this again – ‘Whyatt, you beat me.’ Seriously though, I wholeheartedly am going to miss our conversations about life. Watching you grow has been a pleasure. Congratulations on your commitment to (Andrew College). They don’t know half of what they’re getting.”
