Souderton Trio to Play Collegiate Football

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Souderton’s Kahlil Williams, Danny Dyches & Rylan Zuk were recognized for committing to continue their football careers at the collegiate level.

Denny Dyches – East Stroudsburg University (Football)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges: East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Lock Haven as well as other PSAC schools
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I chose East Stroudsburg because it was the best fit for my family, and they gave me the most money.”
Favorite Souderton sports memory: “My favorite sports memory is scoring my first touchdown. It was a big milestone for me and a testament to all the hard work I put in.”
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Danny was an electric playmaker for us, probably our best playmaker on both sides of the ball. He was first team all-league wide receiver and a first team all-league defensive back at safety for us. He’s just an outstanding football player and a great young man. He was the MVP of our team and definitely was one of the better practice players that we had. He loved to lead by example, and all the kids looked up to him. He had an outstanding senior year and was able to get his grades in a good enough position to get a scholarship to East Stroudsburg, and he accepted it pretty close to right away. He’s going to do really well. East Stroudsburg wants him as a wide receiver, but he’s certainly able to switch sides and play on defense. He was a great safety.”
About Danny:
Favorite food:
Pizza
Favorite movie: Intruders
Favorite music: Rap

Kahlil Williams – Kutztown University (Football)
Major:
Marketing
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “I was torn between Division 3 and Division 2 schools, and Kutztown stood out to me because of the connection to the coaches. It was also the best financially for me long term, so that’s why I picked Kutztown.”
Favorite Souderton sports memory: “My favorite memory was the Pennridge game this year. We were down at halftime, and by the end of the game, we came back and won. The whole team went out to the diner to eat, so it was a really fun experience.”
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Kahlil also was one of our captains, a really good leader. A lot of the kids looked up to him. He was able to play for us for three years.  He didn’t play freshman year because of COVID and came out as a sophomore and worked his way onto the field. Not in a starting role, but he got on the field as a sophomore and was a two-year starter for us and was very productive on both sides of the line. We asked him to play both tackle and guard on offense at times and both defensive tackle and defensive end at times, and he was just very good at all four positions. He has a fast motor, he’s strong, he uses his hands well, and he’s just a really good football player. Kutztown is getting a good one.”

“I love Wawa’s hot chicken hoagies.”
Favorite TV show: Spongebob
Favorite artist: Yeat

Rylan Zuk – West Chester University (Football)
Major:
Finance
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Penn State
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I was talking to Penn State, but I chose West Chester because of the opportunities they were willing to give me on and off the field.”
Favorite Souderton sports memory: “The last summer practices we had as a senior, being with all the guys for the last time and having a great season.”
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “We’ve had such a nice tradition of kickers at Souderton, going back to my first year with Jason Leo who ended up going on to punt at Lehigh. His brother Shawn was another one who did really well – kicked for West Chester. Will Leyland started this recent string we’ve had, and he really has trained all of these kids. He got Ty Quintois to come out and kick. Rylan always wanted to kick, but they all looked up to Will, who has really found his home at the University of South Dakota, and Ty did really well as a freshman at East Stroudsburg. Rylan is just the next in line, and he probably works nearly as hard as Will at what he does. Will was just tireless at what he would do off the field, and that’s certainly not taking anything away from Ty, who played three sports and didn’t have as much time as Will and Rylan. Will and Rylan worked probably harder than any kickers I’ve ever coached. Rylan has an unbelievable work ethic. Even if it was raining, he was always looking for somewhere to kick when we were in the gym, and I was like, ‘Rylan, there’s nowhere for you to go. I don’t know what to tell you.’ He always wanted to work, and he always wanted to get better, and that’s why he’s as successful as he is. He had a great senior year, he had a very good junior year for splitting time with Ty, and he had a lot of opportunities coming out of his senior year, and West Chester seems like a really good fit for him. I’m really looking forward to seeing all three of those guys play, hopefully, against each other.”
