Ariana Crossgrove – Millersville University (Swimming)
Major: Art Education
Final list of colleges: Millersville, West Chester, Bloomsburg
Reasons for choosing Millersville: “I chose Millersville because I fell in love with the team and the school, and they have a great art program.”
Favorite high school swimming memory: “My favorite memory was going to states with my relay team.”
Coach Caitlin Warren says: “Ariana was a team captain this year, and she is a leader in every sense of the word, not just in athletics but also in academics as well. She’s also been chosen to represent Souderton at several leadership conferences this year.
“Ariana has a unique story compared to most because her freshman year she actually had a concussion, and a lot of students with concussions struggle with – Do I come to practices? How do I participate in this sport if I can’t physically be there? Ariana came to every single practice, sat and watched and wanted to be part of the team. This year she wanted to be part of the water polo team, but she doesn’t overly love water polo. She loves the aquatics program, loves the kids, so we’re like – how do we involve her in this? This year Ariana was our team manager for water polo.
“In the pool, Ariana is definitely an athlete that leads by example. She’s always the kid that is in the pool first thing, she’s always the kid to get out last - she’s just one of those athletes. She’s very, very focused, very, very headstrong and very, very driven.”
