On Friday, April 30, 2021, Souderton seniors Jordyn Grossman & Ellie Hiestand were recognized for committing to swim at the collegiate level.
Jordyn Grossman – Lebanon Valley College (Swimming)
Major: Health Exercise
Final list of colleges: Lebanon Valley, Ursinus, Arcadia
Reasons for choosing Lebanon Valley: “I chose Lebanon Valley because of the atmosphere on campus and the coaching staff.”
Favorite high school sports memory: “2020 states”
Coach Lou Williams says: “I’m real excited for Jordyn to get the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. She was a great sprint freestyler for us in high school, and she battled through some injuries. In spite of those injuries, she always communicated with me well and did what it took to get her PT done and get back in the water. Each of her four years, she always showed up at the end of the year at league champs, district champs and state champs and was a great sprinter for us. I think she’s got a lot of potential moving forward to be a good collegiate swimmer.”

Reasons for choosing the Coast Guard Academy: “I chose the Coast Guard Academy because of my desire to serve my country and also to advance my swimming.”
Favorite high school sports memory: “States 2020 for swimming”
Coach Lou Williams says: “Ellie Hiestand is really one of the best leaders that I’ve coached at Souderton Area High School. Ellie not only is a tremendous physical athlete but understands the mental part of competing and being a leader as well. It’s a great opportunity for her to go swim at the Coast Guard Academy. I know she has aspirations of being a leader not just on her team but also for her country. Ellie worked really hard and is going to improve a lot based on the fact that she’s going into a collegiate level program where her ability to lift and swim and work hard is going to benefit her a lot.”
