Josi Tolentino – Messiah University (Softball)

Major: Business/Pre-law

Final list of colleges: Messiah, Cedarville

Reasons for choosing Messiah: “I chose Messiah because of the campus and the wonderful coaching staff.”

Favorite high school sports memory: “My favorite softball memory at Souderton was hitting three home runs within the first two games on our new turf.”

Coach Tyler Bui: “Josi had a banner senior year for us, hitting .517 with 10 home runs. This is quite the accomplishment for any player, let alone someone with little varsity experience. This didn't come easy for Josi. She was not promised anything from our coaching staff, and she worked hard to earn her playing time. Josi knew she had some deficiencies as a player. She put in the work to improve her catching skills and throwing mechanics. Josi stayed after practice and spent countless hours with my assistant, coach Ferraro, in the batting cages to sharpen her hitting skills.
“In addition, Josi had extremely talented players around her. In particular, Emma Lewis, an outstanding catcher, was willing to play third base for us and became one of the best defensive players in the league. To say that everything fell in place for Josi is an understatement. However, you can't take away from her dedication. Hard work doesn't always guarantee results, but it certainly increases your chances of being successful. Josi put her money on hard work, and it paid off.”
