On Friday, April 30, 2021, Souderton seniors Sierra Ripka & Ryan Zimmerman were recognized for committing to play softball at the collegiate level.
Ryan Zimmerman – Misericordia University (Softball)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Misericorida, Albright, Alvernia
Reasons for choosing Misericordia: “I chose Misericordia because I loved the campus, and they have a very good softball program.”
Favorite high school sports memory: “The bus rides going to and from the games”
Coach Carol Atkinson says: “Ryan was our third baseman and earned first team All-SOL Colonial recognition. She batted fifth and was one of our top hitters. She’s a great kid. She’s coachable, she loves the sport, and her heart is always in it. She was solid at the corner and is a good player. All four of my seniors were captains, and they were all great leaders.”

Reasons for choosing Delaware Valley: “I chose Del Val because of the strong environment and the academic facilities.”
Favorite high school sports memory: “The bus rides”
Coach Carol Atkinson says: “Sierra is the same way – she’s coachable, she loves the sport and her heart is always in it. Both Sierra and Ryan were go-getters, and they strive to be the best they can be. Sierra was our center fielder, and she has great speed. Nothing gets by her. She’s a great leadoff hitter – she hit a couple of home runs. She was a great leader of the team, a great mentor for the younger girls.”
