Abby Way – Slippery Rock University (Track & Field)

Major:  Physical Education & Health Education

Final list of colleges: Slippery Rock, East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven

Reasons for choosing Slippery Rock:  “The reasons I picked Slippery Rock were because of their nationally recognized major that I’ll be going into next year and their highly ranked track team.”

Favorite high school track memory:  “My favorite track memory would have to be my first track invitational at Palisades High School my sophomore year. I not only got to throw and compete there, but I also got to run the tanker 4x1 relay.”

Coach Mike Feliciani says:  “Abby was a strong leader who really embraced bringing new athletes into the track family.  She knew how to have fun without sacrificing the work that had to be done for her improvement as an athlete.  Lots of athletes either lose focus of the training or take things too seriously.  She has such an amazing balance of both that helped keep her driving improvement.
“Along with her great attitude, she is so physically gifted. Having the time to continue to develop along with her strong work ethic, I know she is going to really blossom at the college level.  Slippery Rock is lucky to have her.
“It is rare to have an athlete perform as well as she did at all three throwing disciplines (qualifying for the district championship meet in all three throwing events), but it’s her awesome attitude and personality that will be missed more than anything.”
