On Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, Hatboro-Horsham senior Maria Spinosa was recognized for signing a letter of intent to play softball at the collegiate level.
Maria Spinosa – Millersville University (Softball)
Major: Undecided but considering Elementary Education
Final list of colleges: Millersville, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing Millersville: “I really liked the campus, and I liked the coach and the team. I knew I wanted to play softball and go to school, and I thought Millersville fit me best.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball? “When I started for the varsity my freshman year, that’s when my coaches started talking and e-mailing coaches. That’s when I really decided this is where I wanted to go. The recruiting started my junior year.”
Coach Joe DiFilippo says: “Maria is just like (her sister) Melissa. You never get a word out of her, but she’s a hard worker, and she just gives 100 percent in everything she does. She comes from a great family. She played for me in travel too, and what stands out about Maria is her speed. She’s a very, very good hitter, and she has very, very good speed.”
