Sarah Herchenroder – Rowan University (Lacrosse)
Major: Civil Engineering
Final list of colleges: Rowan, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Reasons for choosing Rowan: “Variety of majors, distance from home.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I played with Ultimate Lacrosse for four years, starting in eighth grade. Because of Ultimate, I saw many other players who were committing to play in college. That is when I realized that playing in college was a possibility for me. I didn’t start getting into the recruiting process until the summer leading into junior year. I started later than my teammates not because I wasn’t sure I wanted to play, but because I wanted to make sure I found a school which is right for me.”
Coach Dee Cross says: “Sarah has been a steady force in goal for varsity for the last three years. She’s not the tallest girl on the team, but she definitely did stand tall in the goal. She made third team all-league this year, the first time she was an all-league player, and I really believe she deserved it. Her best game this year was against CB West where she made a toe save at the end. She really did not back down to anyone, and I’m excited that she’s playing in college. I look forward to seeing what she’ll do the next four years. She loves playing goalie, and it’s just been a pleasure coaching her.”
