On Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, Upper Dublin seniors Jayden Santangelo & Justinus Park were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level.
Jayden Santangelo – Drexel University (Lacrosse)
Major: Engineering
Final list of colleges: Drexel, Salisbury, Stockton, Cleveland State, VMI
Reasons for choosing Drexel: “Best opportunities after college and great program close to home. I’m also excited about their co-op program.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I really never felt that I would go to college if it wasn’t for lacrosse. Lacrosse has been my passion since elementary school, it’s been a huge part in my motivation as a student-athlete and as a man.
“Recruiting started with my club team and progressed from there. I spoke to many coaches from colleges all over, but Drexel seemed to be the best for me and my family.”
Coach Pat Lacon says: “Jayden is a tough kid. He’s been playing with the varsity group for four years and was going to be instrumental with last year’s season. He’s part of an all-senior offensive group, so we’re hoping to be very successful this spring. He’s been a great leader in the weight room, the locker room and on the field, being able to push kids as well.”

Justinus Park – Albright College (Lacrosse)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Albright, Hood, Hartwick, Misericorida, Lycoming, Wilkes
Reasons for choosing Albright: “I chose Albright because of the culture down there. The coaching staff is great, and coach (James) Malone helped me feel comfortable at Albright, knowing this college suits me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “The plan was always to play college lacrosse when I started lacrosse in middle school. I just never thought I could reach that goal though because I never thought about facing off till eighth grade. Facing off was rough for me when I started taking them, but with the help of my friends and the coaches at Philly Faceoff, I started getting the hang of it and constantly practicing. I started playing club lacrosse before the pandemic and never thought I would gain interest. I was wrong and was very thankful for the opportunity coach Malone gave me.”
Coach Pat Lacon says: “He’s a face-off kid, he’s a hard worker on the field, and he wants to get pushed. He wants to be challenged every day. He wants to go up against the best face-off men in the area and in the state.”
