Mike Cavanaugh – Gwynedd Mercy College (Baseball)
Major:
Undecided
Reasons for choosing Gwynedd:  “I like that it’ s close to home, and I liked that the coaches kept in contact with me and are giving me the opportunity to play.”
What was the progression that led you to play baseball at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it after last year after that big states run. It was really fun.”
Coach Ernie Rehr says:  “Mike has been our third baseman for two-and-a-half years. He kind of filled in his sophomore season and did a nice job. Last year he really solidified that position for us. One of the memories I’ll have of Mike was last year’s state playoff game when he went 4-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run, and there was a dog pile at first base. He played excellent defense for us this year. He struggled with the bat early and really picked it up. He’s getting himself prepared to play at the next level. He’s a great kid.
“Both Mike and Eddie are phenomenal kids. I can’t speak highly enough about them. They’re soft spoken, no arrogance, do everything you ask them to do. They’re very coachable.”

Eddie Decker – Immaculata University (Baseball)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges:  Immaculata, Gwynedd Mercy, Penn State Abington
Reasons for choosing Immaculata:  “It’s nice, it’s small, and it felt like home when I went there. I enjoyed getting to know the coaches and feeling out the life there.”
What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “I probably started thinking about it when I started playing baseball in high school. I started to enjoy playing, and I just thought I would like to play this as long as I can before time runs out.”
Coach Ernie Rehr says:  “Eddie has been our pitcher for the last two seasons. Last year his record spoke for itself – he was 11-0 heading into the state championship. He certainly deserved a better fate in that game. He pitched a gem of a game – he gave up two runs, but those probably could have been stopped by us.
“He’s been Mr. Consistency on the mound year after year. We know exactly what we’re getting out of him every outing so we can plan accordingly. It’s not like we’re guessing – is he going to give us his good game or his not-so-good game? Every game is extremely consistent, so we know what we have to prepare for when he’s on the mound. He also came up with clutch hits. He’s another great kid. He’s going to Immaculata, and it’s going to be interesting because he and Mike will compete against each other.”
