On Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, Upper Dublin senior Jasmine Thek was recognized for committing to continue her water polo career at La Salle University.

Reasons for choosing La Salle: “I was really drawn to the focus of the team building the coach has, and I really like his coaching style. I am really excited about majoring in psychology at La Salle because I’ve heard that they have a really good program.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in water polo at the collegiate level? “I think ever since playing freshman year I 
knew that water polo was something I wanted to do for as long as I could. I started getting in touch with coaches near the spring of my junior year, but I really started talking to coach (Tom) Hyham just this year. I continued my research on La Salle and realized that it fit pretty much every category for what I was looking for.”
Coach Chris Ianni says: “Jasmine is an outstanding student-athlete. I’ve been coaching her for six years. She started in middle school and has been our starting goalie all four years. She is an outstanding athlete and a terrific teammate. She always has a smile on her face. She comes to practice and is very dedicated, willing to work hard, willing to improve and really reaches out to all the other players. She carried our team to states the past couple of years. She was named second team all-state the past two years and this year was named first team all-state, so she’s a top 10 player in the state. (What made her so good was) her work ethic, and she became a student of the sport. She loves learning about the sport, and she’s very excited to continue playing in college. She has a passion for the sport, she has so much fun playing, and because of that, she brings that to practice too.”
