Zach Duthie – Colgate University (Swimming)
Major: Economics
Final list of colleges: Colgate, Middlebury, Hamilton, Holy Cross, Lafayette
Reasons for choosing Colgate: “I definitely think it’s a school with strong academics, but mostly, when I went on a recruiting trip there, I really liked the guys on the team, I liked the coach, I really liked the facilities, and that’s what it came down to.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in swimming at the collegiate level? “Swimming has been a big part of my life for most of high school. I definitely like swimming, and I want it to continue to be a big part of my life. I enjoy working hard and dropping time.”
Coach Geoff Scheuer says: “He’s a very smart kid. He moved here the summer before eighth grade, and he has been a tremendous worker from day one. He’s a versatile swimmer and we’ve moved him around a lot. He’s extremely committed and extremely driven. He’s a unique kid and has got a unique mind. He’s one of our captains, and I am actually most excited about him filling that role for our team. I think he’s going to be really good at it. I think it’s going to be very important to him to be a good leader, and that’s going to help the team a lot. He’s a versatile swimmer, and we move him around a lot.
