Major:  Public Health

Final list of colleges: Old Dominion, Rutgers, Villanova

Reasons for selecting ODU:  “I chose ODU because of the great opportunity I had to play Division I lacrosse. The athletic facilities are amazing. Overall, the school is very modern in appearance, which is something that I wanted. ODU also offers a linked bachelors-masters program for a public health major.

What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “Honestly, I never pictured myself playing lacrosse in college until I started club lacrosse for PA-Express in seventh grade. I wish that I had started earlier, but that specific club did not include kids younger than seventh graders. It was playing club and going to all the tournaments that really made me want to continue and pursue lacrosse in college.
“I loved the competition at that level, it was so different than high school lacrosse. I made my initial contact with schools summer of 10th grade, merely to see if anyone would actually be interested. I also went to a lot of camps and learned a lot and improved. The fact that I actually got recruited was an amazing feeling.”

Coach Angie Yanocha:  “I'm very excited for Anna. She is a great athlete who works hard and is a real competitor.  She has been a huge asset to our team as a defender and last year moved in to the midfield and was a leader on the team in scoring, caused turnovers, interceptions and draw control.  She really knows the game and is a great leader on the field.”

PA Express coach Kelee O’Malley: “Anna and my daughter grew up together. I started coaching both of them in third grade, so I’ve been coaching them for many years both for Upper Merion Lacrosse Club and then we moved over to PA Express Lacrosse Club. It’s just been really cool to watch her develop as a player. She’s a fierce defender, a go-getter. She’s a very, very coachable kid, and she’s a really good teammate and a really good athlete.
“I knew back in the day – if it was what she wanted - she would end up playing in college if that’s the path she wanted to take. I was always there to support her and help her any way I could.”
