Upper Moreland's Carr & Sebold to Play Collegiate Lacrosse

On Friday, April 12, 2024, Upper Moreland seniors Tomas Carr and Frankie Seebold were recognized for committing to compete in collegiate lacrosse.

Tomas Carr – Mercy University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Computer Science
Final list of colleges: Mercy, Endicott, Ursinus
Reasons for choosing Mercy: “Mercy University has a good computer science program, and they pretty much took my breath away with that. Their lacrosse program does really well – they’ve had back-to-back ECC championships. They’ve gone to the NCAA title game a couple years back, so I’m hoping when I get there, I can make a pretty good impact on the team and hopefully bring them back to the NCAA Tournament.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started playing lacrosse in third grade, and I got inspiration from my brother. I wasn’t really that good, so a year later, they figured out I was going blind in my eyes, so I had to get glasses. Once I got glasses – I had to wear those rec specs, I started to get really good at the sport, and they’re like, ‘Wow, Tomas is actually really good at sports,’ so they started signing me up for programs – clubs and clinics, and it just made me grow my love of the sport. It just made me dedicated so much more to the point where I could go on my own and practice and try to get better.”
Coach Corey Kelly says: “Tomas is a very solid lacrosse player and a disciplined defender. He was matched up against the best opponent’s attackmen and showed he belonged there. He is quick, explosive and has a ceiling that’s so high it’s almost unseen. He is a great kid, and any program is lucky to have him.”

Frankie Seebold – Chestnut Hill College (Lacrosse)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges: Chestnut Hill, Immaculata, Marywood
Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill: “It was really a good fit because I liked the smaller campus, and it’s not too far away. Also, my sister went there and played basketball a few years back. I know a few of the teachers, and I know most of the people on campus, and I just thought it was a really good place for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started playing lacrosse third or fourth grade, and once I got to middle school, I started playing for the club ball teams in the summer and going to tournaments. We went to a few Johns Hopkins games on their campus in Maryland, and after seeing that, I just fell in love with the college level – the more intense games, the faster pace, and it really took off from there.”
Coach Corey Kelly says: “Frankie is an all-around lacrosse player. He was our captain and the heartbeat of our team. He never left the field, probably played 95 percent of every game, and his motor was never empty. He made first team all-league this year in a very competitive league. He has nasty takeaway checks, and it showed by his ability to cause turnovers one-on-one. He’s a great kid, and any program is lucky to have him.”
