On Friday, April 12, 2024, Upper Moreland senior Ryan Conway was recognized for committing to continue his bowling career at Lourdes University.
Ryan Conway – Lourdes University (Bowling)
Major: Psychology
Reasons for choosing Lourdes: “I liked its location, I liked the people there – teachers, coaches. Everything stood out to me. It was a nice campus. The rooms were nice. I just thought it was a great school overall.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in bowling at the collegiate level? “I kind of just went out in a limb my freshman year – I had never bowled before. Sophomore year, I got a bit better, junior year I got a bit better, and senior year, I kept getting better. I started thinking about bowling in college my junior year.”
Coach Howard Cohen says: “Ryan was a four-year member of the bowling team, starting out as a JV member for his freshman year and beginning to show significant improvement in his sophomore year when he began to want to increase his skills. He decided to take lessons, worked on his skills during practice, matches and in the Junior leagues he was involved in outside of school. Over his junior and senior years, he demonstrated a dramatic increase in his skills, and it showed in his average. He became a varsity member who could be depended on in matches. His dedication brought him to the attention of several schools, and Ryan decided to continue as a member of his college bowling team as he enters his freshman year of college. Ryan was well-liked by his teammates.”
