Brandon Gilliard Jr – King’s College (Football)

Major: Communications

Reasons for choosing King’s: “Great community, great major, awesome facility”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “It was always a dream to play at the college level. It was something my father and I talked about for years. The recruiting process started off slow but kicked up after my junior season. I was in contact with many Division 1 schools such as Stony Brook, Yale and James Madison, but COVID slowed these schools down and limited the number of kids to less than they would usually offer.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says: “Brandon was a three-year starter for us and an MVP for us at the defensive back position all three years. Each year he kept getting better and better and was recognized as one of the top defensive backs in our conference this year in the Suburban One American. Brandon has developed as a wide receiver as well, so King’s is getting a very good player that can contribute right away offensively or defensively for whatever they need him to do. I’m extremely proud of Brandon on his accomplishment and wish him much success as he goes off to King’s College.”

About Brandon:

Favorite food:  Pizza

Favorite movie:  Gridiron Gang

Favorite music: Lil Wayne - Rap

Kevin Pineda – Monmouth University  (Football)

(Kevin Pineda was recognized at an earlier date. To view information about Kevin, please click on the following link: https://www.suburbanonesports.com/college-signings/content/wissahickons-pineda-fath-commit-play-collegiate-football-0093377)

Tommy Quinn – Ursinus College (Football)

Major: Undeclared

Final list of colleges: Ursinus, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg, Millersville, Penn College, West Chester

Reasons for choosing Ursinus:  “To play football”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “The beginning of COVID is when I knew I wanted to play college football. I started to take my training seriously, working out and running every day. The recruiting started early summer with Ursinus, and we kept in touch the whole time.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says: “Tommy Quinn – TQ as we all called him – was a first-year starter for us at the defensive back position, but he was always in the rotation as a junior and senior as a wide receiver as well. Tommy didn’t say much. He was a ‘Yes coach, no coach’ type of guy and did whatever he needed to help the team and was always willing to jump out there and do all he could to make sure the team had success. Tommy is part of a class of seniors that really transformed our football program and helped us move in the right direction, helped us make the district playoffs for the first time in eight years and win three football games in a year. It really taught our younger guys coming up which direction we’re going moving forward. We’re going to really miss TQ as he goes on to Ursinus College to play his football.”

About Tommy:

Favorite food:  Pancakes

Favorite movie: Happy Gilmore

Favorite music:  Rap

EJ Schreiner – King’s College (Football)

Major:  Athletic Training

Final list of colleges:  King’s, Ursinus, Misericordia

Reasons for choosing King's: “Close to home – my parents will be able to see me play, great community, close attention from teachers in the classroom, and a winning mentality – a strong foundation to build off of.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “I went my whole life thinking I was going to go to Penn State and major in physical education. When I finished senior season, I knew I was going to miss the sport too much not to play. After long talks with myself and my coaches, I decided I was going to play at the next level.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says: “Seeing EJ as a freshman, I saw that he had a tremendous upside on his ability, and I knew that he would be able to play college football. EJ was kind of our Swiss army knife as a senior this year. He played quarterback, wide receiver, kick returner, long snapper. Pretty much whatever we needed, he was able to do it for the team. It’s going to be a hard job trying to replace a player of EJ’s caliber not only as an athlete on the football field but as a leader on this team. I’m really happy for his decision to play college football, and he’ll have great success at King’s College.”

About EJ:

Favorite food: Outback Steakhouse cheese fries

Favorite movie:  The Dirt

Favorite artist: Travis Scott

Shamir Wilson – Stevenson University (Football)

Major: Business

Final list of colleges:  Stevenson, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology

Reasons for choosing Stevenson:  “A great education and football program”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “My high school coaches believed I could perform at the next level. I started thinking about college junior year, and the recruiting process started my senior year.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says: “Shamir will be attending Stevenson University. He came on as a junior and senior playing a defensive end position. Jamir was a hard worker who played with a lot of emotion, a lot of tenacity and always showed it on the field. This year as a senior he put it all together to be recognized as one of our team MVPs on the defensive line. He’s going to do extremely well at Stevenson, and I wish him much success.”

About Shamir:

Favorite food:  Mac ‘n Cheese

Favorite movie:  Hulk

Favorite music:  Rod Wave - Rap
