Wissahickon senior Marie Dickson has committed to play lacrosse at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Marie Dickson – Mount Saint Mary’s University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Special Education/Elementary Education

Final list of colleges:  Mount Saint Mary’s, Saint Joseph’s University, Monmouth University

Reasons for choosing Mount Saint Mary’s:  “I chose Mount St. Mary’s because of the amazing academics and lacrosse program, starting with the staff and players.  I have always wanted to play for a Division One school with a love for lacrosse, and I am so honored that coach (Lauren) Schwarzmann is giving me this opportunity.”

What was the progression that led you to playing your sport at the collegiate level?  “It began in eighth grade when I started playing for STEPS Philly Elite in the summer. My coaches, Liz Harris and Brooke Fritz, helped me tremendously through the recruiting process. I also had the support of my family, who were always there for me.”

Coach Patti Kovacs says:  “Marie has a positive and outgoing personality. She will play any position, and she’s strong in every position. She is a leader on and off the field. She’s a team player and encourages her teammates to do their best, and she will be one of our captains this year as well.”
