On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, Wissahickon seniors Yondel Dudley and Michael Marino were recognized for committing to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. To view photos of the event, please visit the Photo Gallery.
Yondel Dudley – Shippensburg University (Football)
Academic honors: Student-Athlete of the Month
Athletic accomplishments: Captain of Football, Winter Track & Outdoor Track, Indoor Track State Qualifier, Outdoor Track District Qualifier, Defensive MVP (Football), Multiple school records for indoor/outdoor track and field.
Coach Michael Borkowski says: “Yondel is a class act. Ship is getting a player who will go hard on every down. He played both ways every game and was a very good punter. He will do real well when he stays on the ‘D’ line instead of having to play both ways. Wissahickon is going to miss his presence on the field and off.”
Michael Marino – Chestnut Hill College (Football)
Academic honors: Member of National Honor Society, Foreign Language Teachers Award: Spanish
Athletic accomplishments: Team Captain senior year, team MVP senior year, Highest GPA (Team Academic Award) senior year, PA Football News 2015 Silver Academic All-Star
Coach Michael Borkowski says: “Mike is a character player and is a total team player who is very intelligent. Chestnut Hill is getting a ‘coach on the field’ with Mike. We had him in the booth with a headset when he got hurt, and he sounded just like a coach.”
