On Wednesday, May 1, 2025, Wissahickon senior Tyler Prince was recognized for committing to continue his wrestling career at Pennsylvania School of Technology.
Tyler Prince – Pennsylvania College of Technology (Wrestling)
Major: Welding & Fabrication Engineering
Final list of colleges: Penn College of Technology, Wilkes, Lycoming, Ursinus
Reasons for choosing Penn College of Technology: “I have been taking welding at North Montco for three years and wanted to continue and expand on that education. I wanted to stay somewhat close to home, and the wrestling coach was super nice and inviting.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in wrestling at the collegiate level? “I always wanted to pursue entry level welding after high school, and that was my plan for many years, so when coaches started reaching out about wrestling, I knew I could wrestle in college but declined the opportunities.
“Then, over the summer of my junior year, the Penn College coach reached out. I figured this was the best of both worlds and toured the campus and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the wrestling team and campus.”
Coach Anthony Stagliano says: “Tyler is one of my favorite wrestlers I have ever coached. He's not only a great wrestler but a great kid as well. While he fell one step short of his ultimate goal of making it to States, he will go down as one of the best wrestlers in the history of Wissahickon wrestling. Tyler finished his career with 111 wins, including 89 falls for an amazing 80% fall rate. He was also a three-time Regional Qualifier.
“After the season, Tyler was honored with the Jeff Madden Scholarship Award as well as the Wrestlers in Business Network Scholarship Award.”
