On Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, Central Bucks South senior Felicia Oh was recognized for committing to continue her track and field career at Rider University.
Felicia Oh – Rider University (Track & Field)
Major: Sports Media
Final list of colleges: Rider, Villanova, St. Joseph’s
Reasons for choosing Rider: “Just the strong bond I had with the team when I visited on my official and how the coach is very involved in what he was doing and always tried to get to know me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “I honestly started track as a thing to just do. When I started high school track, I was like – ‘Maybe I can go somewhere with this.’ Specifically, sophomore year when I made states.”
Coach Jason Gable says: “Felicia Oh has been on the track team all four years here at CB South. She came in as an innocent, quiet little underclassman, pretty much a newbie to the sport and especially the hurdles. She has one of most tremendous work ethics I’ve ever seen of an athlete on the team, and even during her sophomore year, she qualified for indoor state championships in the 60-meter high hurdles. Her specialty events are the high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Over these years, she has found greater appreciation and enjoyment within the sport. Her highlights include her junior year qualifying for the outdoor state championships where she medaled in fourth place overall in the 300-meter hurdles. Over the years, Felicia has found a great love and respect for the sport and became a student of the sport. She is the type of athlete I can have her take new underclassmen under her wing and help teach what she does. Throughout our entire program, we have had some tremendous hurdlers. Felicia is up there with some of the best. To date, she has already broken the girls’ 300-meter hurdle record for the school. She set that at the outdoor state championships in 2021.
“Over the course of her junior to senior year, she decided this is something she wanted to continue with in college, and she is competing at Rider University next year in the hurdles. Felicia has been a great athlete for the team. She’s left a tremendous impact on the younger athletes. She’s helped foster and develop a very strong hurdling program that we will see the benefits of for many, many years to come. Overall, as a sprinter as part of our 4x2 and 4x1 relays and our 4x4 relay, she’s come to be known as one of the top athletes in our school from a sprinting and hurdling perspective.”
