On Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, CB South senior Suzie Williams was recognized for committing to continue her softball career at Ithaca College.
Suzie Williams – Ithaca College (Softball)
Major: Undecided
Reasons for choosing Ithaca: “Honestly, the program, the coaches, the girls and just the school in general – it’s a really nice area. It just seemed like a place I’d fit in great. I was also looking at St. Joe’s as one of my other top schools, but the pandemic set me back. Ithaca ended up being my number one school and definitely where I wanted to go.
“I’m going to be going into the exploratory program. I’m also going to be enlisting in the military this summer. My plan is to enlist, go through the ROTC program and get a major through that and pursue a career through that such as the military police and then go into the FBI.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to play in college. That’s just been there. I’ve been playing since I was four, so my whole life, I’ve been like – ‘Oh, I’m going to play in college,’ and I made it happen.”
Coach Kevin Rosini says: ““Suzie is a four-year varsity player. We called her up midway through freshman year, and at that time, she was our backup catcher. She’s always shown good instincts, she has a good knack of the field, knows where to be all the time. We brought her up mainly to be around our veteran players her freshman year, and I think it really helped her a lot. It helped her see the level we’re at. The pandemic year really hurt everybody, but she came back strong last season and ended up being All-SOL outfielder. She’s our leadoff hitter, she’s our catalyst, she’s our sparkplug. She was one of our tri-captains this year. She’s a true leader, I’m so excited for her for going to Ithaca.”
