PIAA Class 3A state semifinals
#7-1 NORTH ALLEGHENY 3, #1-2 PENNRIDGE 0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-17)
Pennridge saw its successful postseason run come to an end at the hands of three-time defending state champion North Allegheny at Bald Eagle High School on Tuesday. The Rams battled gamely but couldn’t overcome a talented Tigers squad.
Senior setter Riley Kodidek had 27 assists in his final high school match. Senior Tyler Johnson (9 kills, 2 blocks) and sophomore Jude Rotondo (10 kills) led the Rams at the net. Nick Smith added four kills and two blocks, Thomas McKinney had four kills and six digs, and Alex Derk added seven digs.
Pennridge closed out its season with a 19-3 record, finishing third in the state. The Rams also captured a share of the SOL American Conference crown with a 13-1 record. North Allegheny will race District 3 champion Central Dauphin in Saturday’s state title match at Penn State.
