On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Souderton senior Alli Malmquist was recognized for committing to continue her cross country and track career at Christopher Newport University.

Reasons for choosing Christopher Newport: “I chose Christopher Newport because of all the undergraduate research opportunities I would have. I loved the positive culture on the team, and I could see myself being a part of it.”
Favorite high school sports memory: “After a cross country race, we went to the driving range and very quickly realized we should probably stick to running and not golf.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I’ve been running since a very young age, and I was just inspired by my dad to keep running. I wasn’t expecting to run in college, but I am.”
Coach Dave Klein says: “Since freshman year, Alli has stood out as a leader for our team, being very positive and encouraging the other girls. The sport is a really hard sport to do, and when you have that positivity, it makes a huge difference.
“Alli has been a varsity member all four years in cross country and significantly impacted our program from scores at districts and leagues. She has been an all-league performer and from day to day helped carry us.”
