On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Hatboro-Horsham seniors Jackson Royds, Austin Harrell, Markel Roberts-Jackson and Aiden Scattergood were recognized for committing to continue to their track and field careers at the collegiate level.
“When you look for teammates and young men for a team, these four guys are prime examples,” Hatters’ coach Mike Harmon said. “They lead by what they do on the track. All the other athletes see it. They’re strong in their message to the team, they’re strong in their enthusiasm for track and field, and they’re strong for creating a team environment.”
Jackson Royds - New Jersey Institute of Technology (Track & Field)
Coach Mike Harmon says: “Jackson Royds is going to NJIT. He’s a middle distance runner and miler for us. His enthusiasm and his push for his teammates is phenomenal. His leadership as a captain was huge. I really appreciate everything he brought to practices and meets every single day.”
Aiden Scattergood - Saint Bonaventure University (Track & Field)
Coach Mike Harmon says: “Aiden Scattergood is going to Saint Bonaventure. He’s a mid-distance and miler for us. His passion for the sport is unbelievable. I know he originally came in as a soccer player, and he’s still a strong soccer player, but I know he’s really, really track at heart. I’m happy to see he’s running track next year. I know he’s had a great experience and he’s loved every minute of it.”
Markel Roberts-Jackson - Ursinus College (Track & Field/Football)
“Coach Mike Harmon says: “Markel Roberts-Jackson is going to Ursinus. He’s a tremendous leader, he’s part of our jumping group and hurdling group, and I know he’s going to do great things. His passion was very visible to his teammates as well. Good luck with track and football at Ursinus.”
Austin Harrell - Susquehanna University (Track & Field)
Coach Mike Harmon says: “Austin Harrell is one of our sprinters/jumpers, and he’s one of the hardest working guys on the team. He’s dedicated. The other kids see it, and I know we’re going to miss that leadership on that aspect of our track team. I’m so excited to see him go to Susquehanna University. I think it’s going to be a perfect fit.”
