On Thursday, May 19, 2022, Central Bucks West senior Katie Schmidt was recognized for committing to continue her rowing career at St. Joseph’s University.

Reasons for choosing St. Joe’s: “I really loved their psychology program, and I also really loved their athletic department, and the rowing coach is amazing – he’s very nice, so that was definitely a big factor that played into it.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in rowing at the collegiate level? “I started rowing just this past August. We were watching the Olympics, and my mom thought it would be a great idea for me to join. I just really got into it very quickly, and I set a lot of goals for myself, and towards the winter, I decided I wanted to go D-1. I just contacted all the coaches that I could, and I was very lucky in such a short amount of time.”
