On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Central Bucks East seniors Tyriq Toney-Bailey & Liam Cummiskey were recognized for committing to play basketball at the collegiate level.
Liam Cummiskey – Moravian University (Basketball)
Major: Sports Management
Final list of colleges: Moravian, DeSales, Catholic University
Reasons for choosing Moravian: “I had to picture it without basketball, so it just felt the most like home, the most like a family environment if I wasn’t playing basketball.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “It came about my freshman year when (one of my coaches) said I had the potential and I could be a college basketball player, and that’s when the idea first came to me.”
Coach Erik Henrysen says: “Today is bittersweet to see Liam signing with a college because that means officially that he’s moving on to college basketball. It’s been awesome to see him develop. He’s been such a huge part of our program, and to be part of his growth as a player and as a person has been an honor. Liam is a guy that came in as a ninth grader and wanted to be a great player, and over the course of four years, you could see from year to year his improvements. Ultimately, he played a huge role as a junior on a championship team and again as a senior on a championship team. Liam deserves the accolades, but he’s also not satisfied. I feel as though Liam – looking forward – may still have his best basketball on the horizon. He is continuing to grow, and with Liam, I think the sky’s the limit. Moravian is getting a steal, and I think Liam is a guy who will definitely contribute – if not right away – over the course of his four years in college. We’re proud of Liam. It’s tough to see him go, but it’s exciting to see what’s to come.”

Tyriq Toney-Bailey – Delaware Valley University (Basketball)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Delaware Valley, Elizabethtown, Cairn
Reasons for choosing Del Val: “I wanted to stay close to home. That was one of the big reasons. I liked the coaching staff – from the minute they started to recruit me, they kept in constant contact with me, and not just with basketball. They would call and see how I was doing, so they stuck with me. The guys on the team – they were all good to me, so it made it an easy decision.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “Until sixth grade, I also played baseball, so I never really took one sport seriously, but then once I got into seventh grade, I started playing just basketball. I was always naturally good at it, and in my freshman year, I started taking it seriously and working on it to get to the next level.”
Coach Erik Henrysen says: “Tyriq is a player that is so enjoyable to coach. He never has anything but a smile. The contributions that he’s made to our program on and off the court with his play but also with his personality and his commitment to our program has been awesome to see. Tyriq is one of those kids that can score, but it wasn’t always something he was always able to express on the court. The stretch run that he had the last 12-14 games of his senior year are as good as anybody’s stretch run. He was dynamic, electric on the court. He really just ignited our team. He’s heading to Del Val, and I think Del Val is getting a steal in that Tyriq is getting better and better every day. His athleticism has improved tremendously over the course of the last four years. He’s a tremendous scorer, and I think he’s ready for the next level. We can’t wait to see Tyriq just down the road. To be able to go down and see him is really something we’re all looking forward to as a staff and as a program. We’re proud of Tyriq. I can’t wait to see what’s in store.”
