PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
PW opened the season with a road win. The Colonials were led by senior Adriana Storti with 12 kills, senior Neve Straff with eight kills, 18 digs, two aces, and strong defensive play by Kayla DiGuglielmo and Caroline Veon who, accounted for six aces and 18 serve receives to target. Neve Straff accounted for 28 digs. Sophomore Amanda Busk had a great day with six kills and eight blocks.
PW (1-0) will face Pennridge in Thursday’s home opener. Council Rock South (0-2) will travel to Upper Dublin on Thursday.
NESHAMINY 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (26-28, 25-16, 25-20, 25-20)
The Panthers eked out a win in the opening set, but the Redskins reeled off wins in the next three sets.
For the Panthers, Kayla Sicher (6 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks) and Grace White (6 kills, 5 blocks) led the way at the net. Erica Gildea’s 12 digs led the defense. She also had one assist. Setter Anna Skogen was credited with 11 assists and also had six digs. Also making contributions were Mia Handschumacher (2 kills, 1 block, 2 digs), Ellie White (1 kill, 1 ace, 1 block, 1 dig), Cece Bates (2 kills), Carissa Ievers (3 assists, 1 ace, 1 dig), Colleen Gallagher (6 digs), Katelyn Martinez (1 assist, 4 digs), Ella Banas (3 digs) and Cora Moll (4 digs).
Neshaminy (2-0) will travel to Central Bucks South on Thursday, and Quakertown (0-1) will be on the road at Pennridge on Tuesday.
ABINGTON 3, PENNRIDGE 1
The Ghosts picked up their second win of the young season. Kenya Lucas was a force at the net, slamming home 19 kills. Liz Tanis had five blocks, and setter Mary Carter had 28 assists.
Abington (2-0) will host Villa Joseph Marie in a non-league match on Thursday. Pennridge (0-2) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Thursday.
PENNSBURY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-22)
Pennsbury notched its second win in as many days, earning a sweep of the Patriots.
Sami Love, Stephanie Adamousky and Brynn Magee each took a set as libero. Faith Szumigala and Caroline Croteau shared setting duties. Jocelyn Fang led the Falcons with eleven kills. Keira Rogan had ten kills and one ace. Natalie Johnson had seven kills, Claire MacElroy had four kills and Ella Visco finished with two kills. Caroline Croteau led the Falcons with four service aces. Ella Visco, Stephanie Adamousky, Faith Szumagala, and Jadyn Rogan all had two service aces.
For the Patriots, Megan Colbert (10 digs, 3 aces) and Katie Monaghan (10 digs, 3 aces, 5 kills, 4 assists) led the defense. Setter Mia Metille had 19 assists to go along with four digs. Maddy Ware led the Patriots’ attack with seven kills and also had three digs. Samantha Sharp had four kills, Emily Arslan added four digs, and Aimee Wolfe had two blocks and one kill.
Pennsbury (2-0) will travel to William Tennent for Thursday’s SOL opener, and Central Bucks East (0-2) will host Southern Lehigh in a non-league match on Wednesday.
MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH ACADEMY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-26)
The Bucks fell to a talented Magic squad in non-league action Tuesday.
Alexis Barklage led the Bucks’ attack with 13 kills. Alexa Lee’s 10 digs paced the defense. Erin Ferello handed out seven assists. Caroline Taylor had a strong service game, finishing with six service aces to go along with three digs.
Central Bucks West (1-1, 1-0 SOL) will host Archbishop Carroll in a non-league match on Thursday.
HARRITON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 2
The Flying Cardinals lost a hard fought match to Harriton in non-league action Tuesday.
Brooke Kinsley (13 kills, 2 aces), Lyvia Marcus (12 kills, 1 assist), Janis Andrulonis (7 kills) and Natalie Marshall (7 kills) were catalysts on attack for the Flying Cardinals. Setter Kaitlyn Small had 30 assists, two kills and two aces.
Upper Dublin (0-1) will host Council Rock South on Thursday.
NORTH PENN 3, CONESTOGA 2
The Knights battled fiercely to overcome Conestoga in their home opener. After a slow start that saw them drop their first two sets to their visitors, they made a dramatic comeback to win the match by taking the last three sets. They finished set five with a hard fought 15-13 win.
Senior captain Kiley McTaggart led the team with 17 kills, junior middle Jalynn Grant added seven kills and four blocks, and senior setter Brooke Moffa led the Knights with her aggressive serving.
The Knights (1-1) travel to take on West Chester Henderson on Thursday.
