SOL National Conference
PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-15)
The visiting Falcons came up with a win against the Indians in three straight sets.
Keira Rogan led a strong team effort with seven kills and six digs. Kiersten Adair, Claire MacElroy and Jocelyn Fang each had four kills. Kira Sendlock and Ella Visco both had three kills. Also contributing were Ainsley Dysart (2 kills), Natalie Johnson (1 kill) Stephanie Adamousky (5 aces) and Jadyn Rogan (2 aces).
Caroline Croteau (1kill, 4 aces) and Faith Szumigala (3 aces) shared setting duties. Sami Love lead the defense with seven digs and two aces.
Pennsbury (10-1, 7-1 SOL) will host Council Rock South in a key conference battle Thursday, and Council Rock North (4-6, 2-4) will be on the road at William Tennent on Thursday.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-19)
The visiting Panthers – sparked by a strong offensive game – notched a sweep of the Owls.
“Bensalem did a nice job of keeping the ball alive, and there were some good rallies,” Tennent coach Brian Bassler said. “Our offense was really good today.”
Leading the way up front were Lauren Marsland (10 kills), Charlotte Reeves (10 kills) and Georgie Thorpe (9 kills). Addy Criss led the defense with 24 digs, and Marguax Kellem added nine kills. Sophomore setter Izzy Goebel dished out a season high 37 assists.
William Tennent (8-4, 5-3 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Thursday, and Bensalem (6-8, 2-6) will travel to Harry S Truman on Thursday.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, NESHAMINY 0
The Golden Hawks remained perfect in conference play with their sweep of the visiting Redskins.
Nala Kauer (9 kills, 2 digs) and Edan Kauer (8 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs) led the Golden Hawks’ at the net. Ashlyn Dinan (11 assists, 2 kills, 1 ace) and Rachel Khelmer (10 assists) split setting duties. Lindsey Korn led the defense with nine digs to go along with three aces. Olivia DeSaro added four kills and two digs. Also making important contributions were Cadence Palmer (1 ace, 3 digs), Shani Sun (2 kills, 2 digs), Rachael Buchnik (2 aces), Gracie DeSaro (2 kills) and Dara Botnick (1 kill).
Council Rock South (12-2, 8-0 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury Thursday for a conference showdown with the Falcons. Neshaminy (6-9, 2-6) will host St. Hubert’s on Friday in a non-league match.
SOL Continental Conference
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-22, 25-17, 27-25)
The Titans earned their first league win of the season, earning a sweep of the visiting Panthers.
"It was a good night for us, and we were finally able to put another one in the W column,” South coach Kurt Godfrey said. "We've had a tough season with injuries, some illnesses, and losing some heartbreakingly close matches, but I am so proud of how our girls continue to fight.
“I credit our captains for keeping our team together, especially when we've been in some tough situations this season. Hopefully tonight was the spark we needed to get some more Ws this season."
Senior outside hitter Breckyn Loynd had a big night for the Titans, leading the way with 15 kills, two blocks and 15 digs. Freshman setter Carly Scott handed out 22 assists and also had two kills and five digs. Senior libero Julia Daniele led the defense with 20 digs. Also contributing were junior defensive specialist Sarah Murray (4 aces, 1 kill, 4 digs), sophomore outside hitter Maddy Zagnojyn (4 kills), junior opposite (4 kills) and senior defensive specialist Tara Durkin (1 ace).
For the Panthers, Cece Bates led the way at the net with 10 kills and also one dig. Kayla Sicher added five kills and four digs. Setter Anna Skogen had 14 assists, three kills, seven digs and one ace. Erica Gildea’s 11 digs led the defense. She also had one ace and one assist. Colleen Gallagher added nine digs and one ace. Also contributing were Mia Handschumacher (3 aces, 2 blocks, 1 dig), Grace White (1 kill, 4 blocks, 1 dig), Kiele Magalengo (1 kill, 1 block), Ellie White (1 kill), Carissa Ievers (5 digs), Katelyn Martinez (3 digs) and Cora Moll (2 digs, 1 assist).
Central Bucks South (2-12, 1-7 SOL) will travel to Pennridge on Thursday, and Quakertown (2-10, 1-7) will host Lansdale Catholic in a non-league game on Tuesday.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, SOUDERTON 2 (20-25, 25-18, 8-25, 25-22, 15-7)
The Patriots – led by the standout effort of Maddy Ware at the net - edged the visiting Indians in five sets in a hard-fought match.
Ware led the Patriots with 16 kills to go along with five digs. Katie Monaghan (22 assists, 2 aces, 7 kills, 1 dig), Mia Mettille (17 assists, 2 aces, 1 dig) and Jillian Walworth (8 assists, 1 dig) shared setting duties. Sam Sharpe added seven kills, two blocks and three aces, and Aimee Wolf had six kills and four blocks while Kate Malobisky had five kills and three digs. Emily Arslan (3 aces), Arya Haridas (5 digs, 1 ace), Megan Colbert (1 ace, 1 kill, 3 digs), Steph Bahner (3 kills) and Regina Mathur (1 kill, 1 dig).
For the Indians, McKenna Murawski led the way with 12 kills, 10 digs, four aces and two blocks. Kay Guessford also had a big game at the net with 10 kills to go along with one ace and five digs. Alexa Mazzeo turned in a standout defensive effort with 21 digs to go along with two kills, one assist and three aces. Setter grace Boyd had 21 assists and five digs.
Central Bucks East (7-5, 7-1 SOL) will travel to North Penn on Thursday, and Souderton (7-5, 4-4) will be on the road at Dock Mennonite Academy for a non-league match on Wednesday.
NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1
The visiting Knights finished strong, winning two straight sets after splitting the first two to earn the road win.
For the Bucks, Hollis Walton (9 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs), Rachel Hu (6 kills, 2 aces, 19 digs) and Lily Rasnake (7 kills, 4 digs) led a balanced attack at the net. Erin Ferello (13 assists, 12 digs, 1 kill) and Elisa Kremser (13 assists, 1 block, 1 kill) shared setting duties. Caroline Taylor and Amber Woodring both had 13 digs to lead the defense. Woodring also had four aces.
North Penn (7-6, 4-4 SOL) will host Central Bucks East on Thursday, and Central Bucks West (9-3, 5-2) will travel to Quakertown on Thursday.
SOL American Conference
ABINGTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0
The Ghosts rolled to a sweep of the visiting Flying Cardinals.
Kenya Lucas led the Ghosts’ attack with 11 kills, and Sasha Moody added six kills. Sophomore setter Mary Carter had 16 assists. Elle Pennekemp contributed six blocks, and Liv Kraft’s nine digs led the defense.
Abington (12-2, 6-2 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon on Thursday, and Upper Dublin (4-8, 3-5) will host North Penn on Monday.
