District 1 4A third place playback
#5 LOWER MERION 3, #2 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1
PW struggled early to rebound from the loss to Garnet Valley in the Tuesday's district semifinal.
“We have to give it to Lower Merion for coming in ready to play,” PW coach David Stewart said. “Our girls had a bit of an adjustment in terms of reading the ball defensively and just never really got fully back to playing with confidence. PW did improve on areas they struggled in on Tuesday, specifically their service game, but then struggled on the offensive side of the ball and front court defense.
“Our defense, which was tested, did hold up for a good portion of the match, but without consistency from all the other areas, it made it tough to keep it going throughout the whole match,” Stewart said.
PW will regroup and looks forward to their match on Tuesday with Parkland, District 11 Champ, in the opening round of the PIAA 4A State Tournament.
