PENNSBURY BOYS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW

Last year’s record: 13-8, SOL Playoff Qualifier, District Playoff Qualifier

Notable losses: Evan McNeely, Aidan McCormack(Widener), Justin Hedges(PSU-Altoona) Craig Stargell(BCCC),

Key returners: Ty Kocak-12th Grade-Guard (3rd Team All-League), Teddy Mangan-11th Grade-Guard, Connor Taddei-11th Grade-Guard/Forward

Others to watch: Ryan Zuckerman-12th Grade-Forward, Mike Roccograndi-10th Grade-Guard, Danny Cohen-11th Grade-Guard

Strengths/Question Marks: “We have a nice blend of returning players, youth and size. While Kocak, Taddei, and Mangan are the only returners from a very senior-laden team, incorporating a new style and program is an adjustment for any group. Team speed and the downhill style of play figure to be featured strengths for our team, while secondary scoring and playmaking are roles we are seeking as we navigate in a fun and eventful preseason. Everyone likes their team in November, would like to like our team in March.”

Outlook: The Falcons look to return to the top of the ever competitive SOL Patriot in 2022-2023 as their new staff and new blend of players look to replace some excellent 2022 seniors and long-time coaching staff.
“The Falcons will look to senior combo-guard Ty Kocak for his slashing scoring and shotmaking prowess early and often throughout the season. The return of junior guard Teddy Mangan and junior marksman Connor Taddei will provide a strong returning core in the backcourt and on the perimeter.
“On the interior, the Falcons welcome Pitt baseball signee Ryan Zuckerman back to the program. Zuckerman looks to provide toughness on the backboard and rim protection, as well provide a finisher at the rim. Juniors Sam Callahan, Danny Cohen, Eric David, and Simon Dlugi all figure to play vital roles for the Falcons, while dynamic sophomore guard, Mike Roccograndi could be a big piece of the Falcons success as a scorer and playmaker.
We hope to compete for the league title and compete for a strong position in the District 1 playoffs and ultimately the opportunity to play in March.”
