PENNRIDGE RUN ENDS AT THE HANDS OF CENTRAL DAUPHIN
CD TAKES OUT PENNRIDGE & COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH
by Glenn Kaiser
Hershey, PA-District One’s 2023 Wrestling Team Champion, Pennridge, saw its impressive run through the consolation bracket end Saturday morning with a loss to D3’s Central Dauphin 30-21. CD took out Council Rock South Friday evening 44-20, ending the Golden Hawks chances to medal. CR South would have faced Pennridge this morning if they’d gotten by Central Dauphin.
Pennridge advanced to the consi-quarters after winning a D1 championship rematch with Spring-Ford Friday evening 30-21, setting up the Rams second match of these duals against a D3 team. The ‘Ridge was outstanding in their Cumberland Valley dual, winning 35-33 against D3’s runner-up, Central Dauphin was the D3 champ. CD will wrestle for third-place in this tournament after beating Central Mountain 33-23. They will battle Cannon Mac, the D7 champs. Bethlehem Catholic and Nazareth will redo their D11 championship final. BECA, the winner of that match, has been on a mission to win the team title since they came off their win over Malvern Prep.
Pennridge Head Coach Brian Kuhns could be heard on the floor Friday emphasizing his team’s first win (over Cumberland Valley) at the Giant Center to his wrestlers and fans, and you could just tell that he wanted more for his Rams. He got just that, as Pennridge, despite their bad breaks throughout the tourney, ran off two straight victories after dropping down in to the consolation bracket Thursday night. All-in-all, the Rams had a good showing, going 2-2 over the weekend after winning their school’s first District title last weekend.
A recap of the championships will be posted later…
