Strengths/Question Marks: Patriots return five players from the everyday starting lineup last season including Harlan (3B), Moody (SS), Fulford (2B), Wilga (1B) and Mislan (OF). Many of these players are entering their second or third season as staters and gained valuable experience last season as sophomores and freshmen.Of 127 innings pitched last season, only 35 were by currently rostered players. The staff will be led by Sam Bliss (Jr – RHP, 20IP last season) and Xavier Sjostedt (Sr. – LHP, 11 IP last season). A crop of relatively untested pitchers including Gabe Amendola (Sr), Nolan Behm (So), Chase Fulford (Jr), Chase Harlan (Jr), Damian Frayne (Jr) and Mike Scafidi (So) will need to step into the spotlight to fill the void left by Tyler Behm (35 IP, Thomas Jefferson), Max McGrady (17IP, Holy Cross), Aidan Weaver (28IP, Duke) and Brett Young (12IP).
Outlook: “A mix of talented and versatile players makes this an exciting group to watch. The ultimate test in the challenging SOL is if a group of talented players can put aside personal glory for the good of the team. With position players working as pitchers, it is essential that players that do not start the game continue to stay locked in,as their name maybe called to execute their job with the game on the line. We are excited to get this season started and look forward to another challenging year in the SOL!”
