Jimmy Torpey threw a complete game 2 hitter with 15 strikeouts and had 3 hits at the plate and an RBI. Patrick Kilgus had 2 hits and 2 RBIs and Paul Meyers chipped in 2 hits in addition to his usual solid defense behind the plate.

After a 1-2-3 top of the 1st, Shawn Townsend led off the bottom of the 1st with an infield single. Townsend stole second and after a Pat Kilgus walk, Jimmy Torpey singled in Townsend with a 2 out RBI single.

A Jackson Townsend fielder's choice scored Nate Kelly who walked and advanced to 3rd on Kilgus' first single of the game. Jimmy Murray (Fr) followed up with his first varsity hit, a 2 out RBI single to put UM up 3-0.

New Hope scored a run in the top of the 4th on a Brooks Saft sacrifice fly, but Torpey limited the damage to a single run.

In the bottom of the 6th, UM scored 5 runs with 2 outs on a Nate Kelly walk, Pat Kilgus 2 RBI single, Jackson Townsend single, and Torpey single.

New Hope capitalized on some sloppy UM defense to score 2 runs in the top of the 7th but Torpey closed the game with a strikeout to end the 95 pitch complete game.

I don't take these performances from Jimmy for granted, even though he makes them seem routine!

Today was a total team effort, 7 starters recorded a hit and all 9 reached base safely. New Hope beat us twice last year and has another solid team, I'm proud of our guys but know we have a lot of work left to get where we want to be!
