SOL National Conference
Bensalem 3, William Tennent 1
The Owls kept their streak alive.
Bensalem defeated William Tennent 3-1 for its 12th win in a row.
Rohan Patel (26 digs, 4 assists, and 1 ace) played an outstanding defensive match for Bensalem. The offense was led by Jack Wineburg (12 kills 3 blocks 1 ace) and Jahaan Patel (9 kills 2 blocks 6 digs). Dev Patel (6 kills 2 blocks), Yosuf Khan (3 kills 1 block) and Bruce Bell (4 kills 2 blocks) also made big plays at the net for the Owls. Sophomore setter Veer Patel had a strong day running the offense with 32 assists as well as 12 digs.
Bensalem (12-1, 8-1 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South on Tuesday, and William Tennent (6-4, 6-3) will host Abington on Tuesday.
Neshaminy 3, Cheltenham 0
Aiden Hastings led the way with 13 kills, 2 digs, and 1 assist as Neshaminy swept Cheltenham 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-21) in Thursday’s National Conference matchup.
El-Mansur Sagalive recorded 20 assists on the day to go along with 1 kill, 3 digs, and 1 block. Brandon Sloskey was right behind Hastings with 11 kills as well as 5 aces and 2 digs.
Neshaminy also received contributions from Vraj Amin (1 ace, 1 kill, 6 digs, 1 block), Liam Smith (2 aces, 6 kills, 1 dig, 4 blocks), Beknazar Baiyshbekov (2 kills, 1 dig, 1 block), Chase Nuttall (2 kills), Ruhan Jaikaria (4 digs), Jackson Young (1 kill), Jake Giuliana (4 digs, 11 assist), Ryan MacMullen (2 digs), and Damien Castro (5 digs).
Neshaminy improves to 5-4 in the National Conference, 7-5 overall, and will host Council Rock North at 7 pm Tuesday. Cheltenham falls to 1-7, 1-7, and will visit Pennsbury at 3:30 pm Tuesday.
SOL American Conference
Souderton 3, Central Bucks East 2
It took five sets, but Souderton pulled out a 3-2 win over Central Bucks East on Thursday in a matchup between two teams fighting for position in the American Conference.
Levi Leatherman dished out a whopping 43 assists for Souderton in the win. Nate Brown had 19 kills and 10 digs, Ian Nice racked up 16 kills and 9 digs, Derek Gilmore had 6 kills, 9 blocks, and 2 aces, and Alec Kreiser recorded 10 digs.
For East, Matt LaBouliere once again was outstanding everywhere on the court. He finished the match with 21 kills, 19 assists, 2 aces, 5 blocks, and 26 digs. Outstanding offensive efforts were given by Reid Miller (14 kills, .500 kill percentage, 2 aces, 1 block, 9 digs), A. J. Helveston (9 kills, 13 digs), and Pat Haurin (5 kills, 4 digs). Defensive standouts included Aiden Leichter with 35 digs and an assist, and Steve DiRugeris with 9 digs. The Patriot offense was directed by Rhys Marshall who dished 35 assists while picking up 14 digs and an ace. Sean Figus served a great game and added an ace, while Ethan Scott (4 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces, 2 digs, 1 assist) and Liam Donnelly (4 kills, 3 blocks 1 dig) had very productive play at the net.
Souderton moves to 6-4 in the American Conference, 7-6 overall. Both the Indians and the Patriots (6-5, 6-6) will play at the Haverford Invitational Tournament beginning at 8 am Saturday. Souderton returns to league action at 6 pm Tuesday against Central Bucks West, while the Patriots will host Pennridge at 6:30 pm Thursday.
Central Bucks West 3, Quakertown 0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12)
The Bucks took care of business quickly and efficiently, rolling to the sweep.
Oliver Hu’s 10 kills led the Bucks, Cooper Tyksinski added six kills while Hayden Morocco and Christian Woo each had four kills. Caleb Woodright handed out 15 assists, and Lim Boyle had 22 assists and four ace.
Central Bucks West (5-8, 3-6 SOL) will travel to Souderton on Tuesday, and Quakertown (0-11-, 0-9) will host Council Rock South on Friday.
Upper Dublin 3, Central Bucks South 1
Terrell Turner’s 17 kills led the Flying Cardinals at the net in their four-set win over the Titans. He also had one ace, five digs and three blocks.
Cory Pendleton added six kills, two aces, nine digs and one blocks, and Landon Kullmann had five kills, two aces and two digs. Seamus Frayne had three kills, two digs and one block, and Dominick Plaku had five aces and nine digs. Setter Cole Brown had 33 assists as well as one kill, two aces and 10 digs.
Upper Dublin (8-3, 7-3 SOL) will host Quakertown on Thursday, and Central Bucks South (5-5, 5-4) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday.
Pennridge 3, North Penn 0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-22)
The Rams rolled to their ninth win without a loss in league play.
Filippo Tornambe’s six kills (.455 hitting percentage) and four digs led the Rams.
Pennridge (9-1, 9-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday. North Penn (3-7, 2-7) will travel to Quakertown on Tuesday.
