CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 9, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 7

The Bucks pulled off a stunner, handing visiting Rock South its first loss of the season in a conference game.
“Today’s game was a culmination of everyone playing smart,” West coach Kali Cook-Grisewood said. “The team moved the ball strategically, saw the field well, and we capitalized on critical plays both defensively and offensively.
“I’m proud of the team for stepping up today, staying composed, and following through with all the strategies that we worked on in preparation for today’s game. Everyone played well and today’s win was a solid team effort.”
Rock South coach Madison Hurwitz tipped her hat to the Bucks.
“It was a tough day for us,” the Golden Hawks’ coach said. “West’s goalie played awesome, and their center did a great job winning draws for them.”
The Golden Hawks took an early 2-0 lead, but the Bucks battled back, knotting the score 6-6 at halftime.
“It went back and forth with long possessions and several cards and 8-meters,” Cook-Grisewood said. “It wasn’t until the final minutes of the first half that we caught up to get it to 6-6.”
Goals were scarce in the second half with the Bucks outscoring their visitors 3-1.
“Starting the second half, the girls focused on playing smart, coming up with the draw and moving the ball quickly,” Cook-Grisewood said. “We scored on an 8m to finally give us the lead for the first time (7-6). Council Rock South had a couple opportunities to answer with back-to-back 8 meters, but they were unable to get the shots off as our defenders got sticks on it. It was amazing.
“From there the team got the ball on offense, worked it around the cage to score off of a feeding play, putting us up 8-6.”
Rock South pulled to within one with four minutes remaining, but the Bucks immediately answered with a goal to go up 9-7 and then held the ball to run down the clock.
“I’m incredibly proud of every athlete on the CB West roster for today’s win - it was a hard-earned victory,” Cook- Grisewood said.
For the Golden Hawks, Amy Loving’s hat trick led the attack. Lizzie Hearn added two goals while Amanda Green and Zoe Brossman each had one goal. Ella Mayberry had one assist.
“We had too many yellow cards, too many turnovers,” Hurwitz said. “The defense played great the last handful of minutes and gave us chances to score on attack, but we couldn’t capitalize.”
Central Bucks West (4-4, 1-3 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks East on Monday, (7 p.m.), and Council Rock South (8-1, 4-1) will be on the road at Souderton on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

PENNSBURY 12, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
The visiting Falcons controlled play from the outset, opening up a 10-0 halftime lead on their way to the non-league win. Kema Brown turned away all seven shots she faced to earn her first shutout in goal of the season for the Falcons.
Olivia Graebner scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead a balanced Falcon attack. Grace Holmes also had a hat trick while Rylie Borgman and Angelina Kenney each had two goals and one assist. Mia Popovich also had two goals to round out the scoring.
Pennsbury (7-3, 4-0 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Monday, and Hatboro-Horsham (1-8, 1-3) will host New Hope-Solebury on Tuesday.

ABINGTON 11, SOUDERTON 3
Abington lacrosse had a big team win at home against Souderton.
The Ghosts had a total of seven goal scorers in the contest. Freshman Katie Pennekemp led the team with four goals and one assist. Haley Hamsher, Audrey Silverman, and Madden Murray added two goals apiece. Freshman Joanna Duff also added a goal to contribute to the win.
“The defense played strong today and was the first to every ground ball,” Abington coach Meg McClain said.
Harper McGinley led the Ghosts in draw controls with five. Jayden Bagby had 10 saves while allowing just three goals.
For the Indians, Ava Jones, Carly Gavetti and Tatum Andrews each had one goal. Jones also had a draw control and one ground ball while Andrews added a draw control. Ava Shaw chipped in an assist. Hannah Cornes had two draw controls, and Ella Longacre had one. Day Long had one ground ball.
Gabby Hirschmann had five saves in goal for the Indians.
Abington (7-4, 4-1 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday, and Souderton (2-9, 1-4) will host Council Rock South on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

NORTH PENN 11, COATESVILLE 4
Kayla Stressman’s six-point game – which included five goals and one assist – led the Knights. She also had 10 draw controls, effectively setting the tone for the decisive non-league win.
“Kayla Stressman had a great game today – especially collecting 10 draw controls, which allowed us to maintain possession,” North Penn coach Heather Mellow said. “I also need to give credit to Katie Harkins for making sure the ball got to Kayla almost every time.”
The Knights opened up a 5-3 halftime lead and then blew the game wide open in the second half, outscoring their visitors 6-1.
“We got off to a slow start today,” Mellow said. “Our first goal wasn’t scored until midway through the first half. We eventually sparked and caught a rhythm offensively.
“Coatesville is a much better team than their record indicates. They have some nice players on their team.”
Also for the Knights, Lauren Blanch had two goals, two assists and three ground balls while Quinn Rodoff added a pair of goals. Katie Harkins had one goal and one assist, and Stephanie Gibson contributed one goal. Grace McGeehan was credited with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
“Our defensive unit of Grace Macnamara, Ella Juska, Morgan Rodoff, Maddie Brown, Kaitlyn Morse, and Allyra Palmer did a great job protecting the eight-meter today,” Mellow said. “They were quick to double and caused several turnovers. Victoria Rossi was credited with four saves.
“Despite the slow start – it was a good team victory.”
North Penn (6-4, 4-1 SOL) will travel to Pennridge Monday for a key conference battle at 7 p.m.
