WISSAHICKON 10, CONESTOGA 7
Saturday’s win was a big one for a Trojan squad that has bounced back nicely after suffering its first loss of the season at Souderton a week ago.
The Trojans trailed by one at halftime but outscored the Pioneers 4-1 in the third quarter and went on to outscore their visitors 8-4 in the second half, defeating a Conestoga squad that was ninth in the latest PA 3A rankings.
The game honored the memory of Jim Simmington, who played and coached at Conestoga and taught and coached at Wissahickon, and Saturday’s game was a classic battle.
“At halftime, we made a few adjustments offensively that worked, and we started to score some goals,” Wissahickon coach Matt Conway said. “The defense played well throughout the game, and Kyle Krump came up with some timely saves.
“Dom Kemper also won some big face-offs in the second half for us. Overall, it was a really good team effort.”
Comprising the defense behind Krump in goal were Dan Hussa, Will Hussa, Matthew Bauer, Sebastian Davis, Matt Slovin and Logan Bruno.
Kemper won 6 of 12 faceoffs.
Nicholas Donofrio (3 goals, 1 assist), Kyle Doll (3 goals, 1 assist) and Kyle Lehman (2 goals, 2 assists) led the Trojans attack with four-point games. Andrew Slackman added two goals and one assist while Gavin Myers and Slovin each contributed an assist.
Wissahickon (12-1, 7-0 SOL) will host William Tennent on Friday.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 11, CARDINAL O’HARA 7
In a battle of the Lions, New Hope Solebury defeated O'Hara in a non-league game Saturday. Malcolm Raupp had five goals, Colin Foster had three, Mitchell Lontchar had two, and Lucas Solis added one goal.
With New Hope down 2-1 in the first quarter with eight seconds to go, freshman Ben Klayman forced a key turnover that ignited the team in the second quarter to an 8-3 lead at the half.
Colin Foster and Chris Weisbrot won a combined 14 face-offs. Leo Fowler was solid in goal with nine saves. Declan Curran was key to clearing the ball. Dimitri Sigrist, Logan Minnucci, Franklin Phillips and Oliver Phillips were solid on defense.
New Hope-Solebury (6-5, 3-4 SOL) will travel to Springfield Township on Tuesday for an important conference game.
DOWNINGTOWN EAST 6, UPPER DUBLIN 5
Overtime was imminent.
Or so it seemed until the Cougars found the net with the game-winner with six seconds remaining in regulation. Although ending was disappointing, UD coach Pat Lacon saw plenty of value in playing a Downingtown East squad that was eighth in the latest PA 3A rankings.
“We focus on the journey,” the Cardinals’ coach said. “The season is long, and there will be highs and lows that we face. The main focus is that we face those challenges together. Each challenge allows us to grow and get better individually and as a whole unit. We are using these events to gain experience, confidence, and to grow as a team.”
For the Cardinals, Caleb Kelly scored three goals and added an assist. Ben Guagliardo added a goal and an assist, Will Bailey had one goal while both Al Eby and Nate Fechter had an assist.
Fechter recorded 12 saves in a solid outing in goal.
Upper Dublin (9-4, 6-1 SOL) will travel to Springfield Township on Monday.
NOTRE DAME (NJ) 9, PENNSBURY 7
The Falcons trailed by one at halftime but rallied to knot the score 7-7 heading into the final quarter when they were edged 2-0.
Will Taylor’s three-point night included a goal and two assistants. Kolby Ranniello and Mike DeZutel each had two goals while Logan Thorne and Henry Moser each had one. John Curtis contributed two assists.
Jon Vereb recorded 12 saves in goal for the Falcons.
Pennsbury (6-6, 4-3 SOL) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.

EMMAUS 10, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4
The Patriots found themselves on the short end of a 5-0 score after one quarter, and they never got any closer.
Thomas Williams and Matthew Bowen each scored two goals. Bowen also had one ground ball and one caused turnover. Evan Riley contributed an assist.
Chris Funston’s six ground balls and five caused turnovers led the defense. Patrick Coleman added four caused turnovers, two ground balls and one assist, and Ethan Greenlee contributed three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one assist. Luke Christmas added two caused turnovers, one ground ball and one assist. Blake Bishop had one ground ball, while Benjamin Bridegum, Tristan Smith and Dean Blackwell each had one caused turnover.
Central Bucks East (7-6, 5-3 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Tuesday.
