PENNSBURY 15, SOUDERTON 7
The Falcons had plenty of reasons to celebrate.
They not only notched an impressive road win over a Souderton squad that is 12th in the latest District 1 3A power rankings - they also celebrated senior Mike DeZutel attaining a personal milestone when he reached the career 100-point mark.
“Mike DeZutel was three points away from a hundred career points, and he had four goals, so he was pretty motivated,” Pennsbury coach Dean Curtis said. “He really sparked us early. He’s a key player for us anyway, and just to get him started early creates an opportunity for us because the defense has to adjust
“Mike DeZutel, by far, kicked us off, and then the way the team rallied in support of him. Once the defense was sliding early to him, everybody else got involved. It’s like – he set the table, and everyone else was able to eat.”
The tone for this one was set early. The Falcons, who led 3-2 after one quarter, took a 7-3 lead into halftime. Both teams scored three goals in the third quarter, and the Falcons closed it out with a 5-1 fourth quarter tear, silencing any thoughts of a Souderton comeback
In addition to DeZutel’s four goals, Will Taylor and John Curtis both had six-point games with three goals and three assists. Kolby Ranniello also had a hat trick, and Logan Thorne had two goals. Troy Haynes added an assist.
Brad Hill had a big night at the faceoff X, winning 18 of 26 faceoffs. He also led the team with 11 ground balls.
Jon Vereb had a strong game in goal for the Falcons, recording 15 saves.
"Our defense did a great job communicating and supporting each other today against a very active Souderton offense,” Curtis said.
The Falcons’ defense included Liam Halloran, Braxton Furiness, Saxon Dobos, Nolan Halloran, Haydon Massengill, Brady Gehlhoff, Dan Lynch and Thatcher Wilhelm.
“It’s one of those things – we talk with our guys all the time about just building,” Curtis said. “Who you are in March is not who you’re going to be in May and just continuously learning from the ups and the downs.
“We have a whole philosophy in our program that E+R=O. All I wrote on the board today was E+R=O, which is event plus response equals outcome, and in every game, you have tons of different events. It’s how you constantly respond over and over and over. We’re going to do good things, we’re going to do bad things. They’re going to do good things, we’re going to capitalize on their mistakes. So how we respond is all we own throughout the game.
“Today was just a great response. It was a response to having a 6-6 record after last weekend, and it was a response to our seniors – wanting to give them the last six games of our season and really coming together as a team and as individual units to deliver a great game.”
For the Indians, Seth Grossman had one goal and two assists, John Martin-Vince had two goals while Ty Quintois and Sean Landis both had one goal and one assist. Tyson Bui contributed one goal, and Gavin Landis had one assist. Matt Malanga was credited with six saves.
Pennsbury (8-6, 6-3 SOL) will host Washington Township in a non-league game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Souderton (11-5, 6-3) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 12, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 4
The Bucks trailed their visitors 2-1 after one quarter but erased that deficit in short order with a seven-goal second quarter to go into halftime with an 8-2 lead on their way to the win.
Austin Hahn’s five-goal night led the Bucks, who are ninth in the latest District 1 3A power rankings. Hahn also won 2 of 2 faceoffs. Matt Jacobsen added a pair of goals and once again dominated at the faceoff X, wining 14 of 18 faceoffs.
Joe Perry and Aiden Kimberly both had two goals while Sean Kelly had one. Alex Greenspan had three assists.
Will Shandlay recorded seven saves in goal in the win for the Bucks.
Central Bucks West (13-3, 8-1 SOL) will be on the road at Council Rock North on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (8-8, 3-6) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 15, NESHAMINY 11
Keith Conner had an eight-point game (4 goals 4 assists) and Reese Levinson added four goals and two assists to lead the Titans to the conference win.
South led by just one after one quarter but took an 8-5 lead into halftime and maintained that margin, outscoring its visitors 7-6 in the second half.
Also for the Titans, Ryan Gordon contributed two goals and two assists, and Matt Waltrich had two goals. Carter Kapplan and Liam Goss each added a goal. Goss also won 10 of 12 faceoffs and was credited with nine ground balls. Anthony Depedro was 11-for-12 at the faceoff X and also had nine ground balls.

Central Bucks South (6-9, 3-6 SOL) will host Holy Ghost Prep in a non-league game on Saturday at 3 p.m. Neshaminy (6-10, 1-9) will host Springfield Township Friday at 6 p.m.

PENNRIDGE 20, HARRY S TRUMAN 4
It was a team effort by the Rams in Thursday’s decisive win as they received contributions up and down their lineup.
Frank Fanelli had two goals and three assists, Ryan Carickhoff added four goals and Carson Tormey had three goals to lead a balanced Ram attack. Kaiden Nguyen contributed two goals and one assist, and Drew Ferguson had a pair of goals. Nick Marinacci and Ben Souder both had one goal and one assist. Souder also was a perfect 7-for-7 at the faceoff X.
Adding one goal each for the Rams were Kevin Matthews, Aiden George, Zach Warner and Ben Taylor. Gage Gottshalk and Ajay Shukla both had two assists while Matt Seiler, Rocco Fanelli, Andrew Horensky, Ryan Oshea, Matt Le and Cooper States each had one assist. States won 1 of 1 at the faceoff X.
Also for the Rams, David Lee and Cole Nitterour both won 6 of 6 faceoffs, and Matt Le won 3 of 3. Matt Kriney and Nolan Allen each were 1 of 1 on faceoffs.
Combining in goal for the Rams were Tyler Vandermark (1 save), Calvin Mcguire (2 saves) and Justin Gramlish (4 saves).
For the Tigers, Chris Glover led the way with three goals and one assist to go along with 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Nate Cornell added a goal and two ground balls, and Pat Berkery had two assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
Tommy Bryson recorded 25 saves in goal for the Tigers (55.5 save percentage).
Pennridge (14-1, 9-0 SOL) – fifth in the latest District 1 3A power rankings - will host Perkiomen Valley in a non-league contest Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Harry S Truman (0-15, 0-9) will be on the road at North Penn on Tuesday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 10, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 9
The Hatters and Colonials found themselves in a real barnburner and entered the final quarter deadlocked 8-8. David Benjamin scored the game-winning goal, breaking a 9-9 tie. Benjamin led the Hatters with five goals.
Brendan Kim played a starring role for the Hatters on the defensive end of the field, finishing with 25 saves.
Also for the Hatters, Alex Cerminara added a hat trick while both Max Mariano and Nate Phillips had one goal.
Tommy Pedicone was credited with three ground balls. Brett Yorko and Jake Grier both had two ground balls and one caused turnover. Kevin Allison added one ground ball and one caused turnover, and Will McCabe had two ground balls.
Hatboro-Horsham (10-5, 6-2 SOL) will travel to Haverford for a non-league game Saturday at noon.
ABINGTON 8, SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 5
The Spartans took a 4-3 lead into halftime, but the Ghosts – who evened the score 5-5 heading into the final quarter – scored three unanswered goals to close out the game in the fourth quarter.
“The defense played a great game and allowed our offense to take the lead and keep it in the fourth quarter allowing no goals in the fourth,” Abington coach Mike Duffy said.
Matt Miller led the Ghosts’ attack with two goals and two assists, and Spence Lowery had had goals. Gavin Sweeney had one goal, Liam Frazier had one goal, Andrew Herman had one assist, and Liam Penderghest scored one goal for his third goal of the season as LSM.
For the Spartans, Peter Schmidt had a hat trick, and Matt Capoferri also had a three-point game with one goal and two assists. Adam Fluehr had one goal, and Jack Sharpe chipped in with two assists.
Carter Weiss had 15 saves in goal for the Spartans.
Abington (11-5, 5-3 SOL) – 19th in the latest District 1 3A power rankings -will host Upper Merion in a non-league game Saturday at 2 p.m., and Springfield Township (3-11, 3-4) will travel to Neshaminy for a non-league game Friday.
UPPER DUBLIN 11, UPPER MORELAND 4
The visiting Cardinals raced out of the starting gate to an 8-0 lead on their way to the conference road win.
Cole Pedroso’s four goals led the Cards, and Kyle Spirt had a three-point game with two goals and an assist. JD Beamer added two goals, and scoring one goal each were Will Bailey, Ben Guagliardo and Matthew Miller. Al Eby assisted on three goals, and Caleb Kelly had two helpers. Matthew Shohen chipped in with one assist.
Bubba Reape recorded 15 saves in goal in a strong outing.
Upper Dublin (11-4, 8-1 SOL) will host Manheim Township in a non-league game Tuesday, and Upper Moreland (7-9, 1-7) will travel to William Tennent on Tuesday.

WILSON 8, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 7
Not a whole lot separated East from Wilson in Thursday’s non-league game, but it was the visitors - who led 5-3 at halftime but trailed 6-5 after three – using a fourth-quarter surge to eke out the non-league win.
Adam Volm and Blake Bishop both had three goals and one assist to lead the Patriots. Volm also had one ground ball and Bishop had two ground balls. Thomas Williams added a single goal.
Chris Funston finished the game with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Dean Blackwell had three ground balls and three caused turnovers while Ethan Greenlee had a team-high four caused turnovers to go along with two ground balls. Patrick Coleman had four ground balls and one caused turnover, and Tristan Smith added two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Luke Christmas had one caused turnover and one ground ball.
Central Bucks East (8-7, 6-3 SOL) will travel to Downingtown East for a non-league game on Saturday.
