SOL National Conference
BENSALEM 3, ABINGTON 2
The Owls made history on Thursday, capturing at least a share of their program’s first ever volleyball conference title with their 3-2 win at Abington.
“I am so proud of this group,” Bensalem coach Tim Linehan said. “These guys had an amazing offseason. They dedicated themselves to their team and this sport that they love. I am just so excited for them.”
Veer Patel paced the offense, distributing 43 assists to a balanced attack. Jack Wineburg was once again a force at the net with 19 kills 2 assists and 1 block.
“Jack has really stepped up his game as of late and it is great to see,” Linehan said.
Jahaan Patel (12 kills 5 digs 3 blocks) and Dev Patel (11 kills 5 digs 1 block) both made key plays in big spots for the Owls.
Middle hitters Bruce Bell (4 kills 3 blocks) and Vraj Patel (5 kills 1 block) each contributed key plays at the net late in the match. Libero Rohan Patel had 26 digs and 4 assists.
Bensalem improves to 15-2 (11-2 SOL) and travels to Lansdale Catholic for a non-league match Friday. Abington (5-12, 4-10) will travel to Central Bucks East Monday.
NESHAMINY 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-16)
The Redskins used a balanced attack to earn a sweep of the Golden Hawks in conference play.
Setter Jake Giuliana had 30 assists, three digs and one block. Making contributions at the net were Aiden Hastings (7 kills, 2 digs, 3 blocks, 1 assist, 1 ace), Chase Nuttal (7 kills, 2 aces, 2 digs), Liam Smith (6 kills, 2 aces, 1 block), Brandon Sloskey (5 kills, 1 ace, 1 assist), Beknazar Balyshbekov (3 kills, 5 digs), John Nice (3 kills) and Vraj Amin (2 kills, 3 digs, 1 block). Toby Kovaschetz led the defense with eight digs to go along with one ace, one kill and one assist. Damien Castro added two aces and one kill.
Neshaminy (10-6, 8-5 SOL) will travel to Bensalem on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (1-15, 1-12) will host Central Bucks East in a non-league match Friday.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, PENNSBURY 0

SOL American Conference
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-20)
The Titans battled for three sets, but in each, the Patriots prevailed, earning a sweep of their sister school.
Patriot highlights today included an all-around standout performance by Matt LaBouliere with 15 kills, 12 assists, one ace, two blocks, and 21 digs. The win also featured scrappy defensive efforts by Aiden Leichter with 21 digs, Steve DiRugeris with 15 digs, and A. J. Helveston with 14 digs to go along with his block, two aces, and five kills. A key to the East victory was Reid Miller who dominated at the net with eight blocks, and added an ace, two digs, and five kills. In addition, the Patriots got stellar play from Justin Berger with six kills, three digs, and six blocks. Sean Figus contributed some key serves and added a dig, and Pat Haurin chipped in three kills and three digs. Ethan Scott scored three kills, two blocks, and a dig, and while directing the attack Rhys Marshall dished 30 assists and added an ace and three digs.
The Titans were once again led by junior outside hitter Ben Grove, who had 17 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and an ace in the match. Grove, setter Josh Conley and libero Will Tantum combined for 38 digs in the three sets. Middle hitter Will Nothum added 10 kills to the ledger as well.
"As a team, we really worked hard on defense and communication tonight,” South coach Dave Schlosser said. “With only one senior on the team, I feel there is a bright future ahead. We strive to be better every day. We say it all the time and the boys have embraced the philosophy. I'm very proud of how hard they've worked. I believe we have been competitive with all the best teams in our conference."
Central Bucks East (10-5, 9-4 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South for a non-league match on Friday, and Central Bucks South (7-8, 6-7) will host Quakertown on Tuesday.
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 1
Nate Brown turned in another dominant effort at the net, leading the Indians to a four-set win over the Knights with 16 kills, four blocks and eight digs.
Ian Nice added five kills, 10 digs and two aces, and Alec Kreiser led the defense with 14 digs.
Souderton (11-6, 9-4 SOL) will host Spring-Ford in a non-league match Monday, and North Penn (3-11, 2-11) will host Lower Merion in a non-league match Monday.
PENNRIDGE 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19)
The conference champion Rams celebrated Senior Night with a sweep of the visiting Panthers.
“Thanks to our five awesome seniors for their contributions to the program,” Pennridge coach Dave Childs said.
Thomas McKinney (11 kills) and Gavin Stayer (10 kills) led the Rams at the net. Adding five kills each were Charlie Clontz and Owen DeWitt. Ty Porter had eight digs and two aces.
Pennridge (12-2, 12-1 SOL) will host Dock Mennonite Academy for a non-league match Friday. Quakertown (3-15, 1-12) will travel to Southern Lehigh for a non-league match Friday.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-22)
The visiting Flying Cardinals earned a sweep of the Bucks.
For the Bucks, Dean Nguyen had five kills, three digs and three blocks while Christian Wood had three kills, four aces and two blocks. Oliver Hu had four kills. Caleb Woodring’s 12 digs led the defense. Setter Liam Boyle had 13 assists.
Upper Dublin (10-4, 9-4 SOL) will host La Salle in a non-league match Friday, and Central Bucks West (6-11, 4-9) will be on the road at Central Bucks East on Tuesday.
