On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Quakertown senior Alex Bevan-Xenekis was recognized for committing to continue her field hockey career at Wingate University.
Alex Bevan-Xenekis – Wingate University (Field Hockey)
Major: Sports Communication
Reasons for choosing Wingate: “I loved the coach and am excited to be part of the team. I also loved the campus and am so excited to move south and play field hockey.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing field hockey since I was six and started playing club when I was very young. I have always wanted to play in college and started looking at schools last year. I emailed the coach and was visiting another school in the south, so my parents and I decided to stop there as part of our trip. I met the coach and knew right away I wanted to go there.”
Coach Mackenzie Kramer-Moser says: “This was my first year as head coach, and within one short year, Alex has shown to be an extremely dedicated field hockey player who has played a key role in almost every single play on the field. She was out top assister and our go-to person who was either going to hustle back to get into a defensive position to help out or she was going to be the first person to dribble down the field, put it into the circle and make the offensive play. She is a very versatile player with impeccable stick skills and has a need for speed. She is always running on that field every single play. She received MVP overall for the team, she was one of our team captains, and she received first team all-league. Alex, Wingate University is lucky to have a player like you I have no doubt you will continue to do many great things on that field. Always know Quakertown is here cheering you on, and if you need anything, please do not hesitate to come to us. Go Bulldogs!”
